MacLooks is an easy to use GUI application to modify the way your Mac/Hac looks and feels.

may I ask what Expose blob is?

@oneshot : When you turn it on, a blue "blob" will be placed on the desktop. If you click on it - it will activate Expose. Quite useful for people used to use only mouse to navigate.

Why are you making apps that do stuff that is already in the OS?

And also done by other apps?

@pater: why do you care? If you're only here to disrespect other people's efforts, please leave this place! Thank you.

well, i wouldnīt be that harsh, but i agree that anybody creating something for the "scene" should be respected.
if you do all config via console commands and sys menues, thatīs your way.
but i might try this app because i might be a bit leazy. and i havenīt seen this tweak for TM network drives before (havnīt searched it, tough).

so i would appreciate more apps, even when their functionality overlaps.
if we are all openminded, maybe all apps might even become merged as some neo osx86tools.

Well other apps (Onyx, MacPilot ect) is targeted for system management and can also do these SOME of these functions. This is just an app to target the way your Mac looks. IE the name MacLooks. and it can also execute other tasks like TM modding.

Again, the UI elements are way too large for what they are intended for. Why such large buttons for stuff like Quit? Just hit Command + Q.

I also dont see much use for an app like this but if you are interested in hearing any suggestions on how to improve it, here are mine:

- UI Elements should have a functional layout, not just being scattered around the window.
- Group buttons according to the their function, maybe using a tabbed interface or something similar.
- If you want this to be useful to newbies, all functions could be explained in detail on what they do and change, same as you did with the SetFile and Show Drives in TM options.

Image removed. No need for sarcasm

Am I doing it right?

Please stop the pointless discussion, would you kindly ? If you dont like the app, just dont use it. Simple as that.

To piggyback on what thorazine74 said, you should also take the descriptions out from under 'Setfile" and "Show Drives" and instead put them into a pop-up tooltip (this is where I always look for option descriptions).

Interface design is hard... you have to approach it as if you have no idea what anything does, and see how much sense it makes.

A tabbed design would fit better I think, since the functions performed by this app are pretty much unrelated, although they fit under the umbrella of 'looks'.

Great first effort though. Keep it up.

Yeah, people like pater get off on being dumba$$es. It's sad really, because it's energy that could be put into something useful, and they could actually make a difference.

But usually they're too self-centered to absorb any sort of a clue, and live with the delusion that everybody is entitled to hear their opinion.

Just ignore em... they're like bratty little brothers or sisters, they just want a reaction.

Pater has been given a temp ban so he/she will not be annoying anyone for a while.

@SaCleoCheater Keep on striving with your work and ignore any negativity. However, I would like to make a friendly suggestion and point you to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/userexperience/Conceptual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGIntro/XHIGIntro.html) page for some light reading ;)

Thanks for the guidelines.

I can agree that the layout is not perfect, and I am working on that at the moment.
