Firstly, please do not SHOUT.

Secondly, search before asking (http://www.infinitemac.com/f5/how-to-update-ipc-10-5-6-to-t2980/)

if your not going to help dont post anything.

If you actually looked closely, you would see that I had helped. Try clicking on the link.

This question has already been answered many times in the past. A simple search would reveal that.

YOU ARE RIGHT.I apologize for my comments. I realize that you were only trying to help me out. I appreciate that. If you dont mind answering another question. I read what you must do to upgrade from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7. Does the same method apply when trying to upgrade from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6.
Once again I sincerely do apologize.

Generally yes, though I have just read that link through i gave you. It does assume that you are using pretty compatible hardware. Can you put your hardware details in your sig please so we can give you better advice?

Also before you do anything I would advise you make that recovery partition like I mentioned in the other thread in case things go wrong.

If I may ask, I have imaged my osx partition. How can i check if I have imaged the partition correctly. How can i check if I will be able to restore my data before i need it.

Voyn1x-can you simplify this guide for me. I am having troubles when using the Terminal. Is there another(besides the terminal) way that i can find the "mach_kernel file" to make a copy of it?

to make sure your mach_kernel doesnt get overwritten look on the root of your hardrive. then go to Extra, then right click on com.apple.boot.plist and click get info, click the lock at the bottom and change it so everybody can read and write. then when u can write to the file, open it and go to where it says Mach_kernel in the quotes and change it to mach_kernel.voodoo if thts the kernel your using. then just install the update. after you may need to patch your sound again, video drivers, and System.kext(to fix mounting issues, system.kext will have to be updated to 9.5.5 AFTER you install the update, search insanely mac forums. i suggest backing up all your kexts so you dont have any trouble if the need to get some back arrises.

good luck!
edit
also, just go to the root of your hardrive to make a copy of the mach_kernel and just copy it to the desktop, or someplace easy for you to remember.

I cant find the "mach_kernel" file your talking about. I double click on my hard drive(on my desktop) and see 4 folders applications, system, users and library. I dont know where to go from there. I would appreciated it you(or anyone else) would point in the right direction.

It's a hidden file, there are a few apps out there to show invisibles or you can just do it from the command line.

It's much easier though if you use OSX86Tools (http://pcwizcomputer.com/osx86tools/), it has options to install, backup and restore kernels
