Hello,

I'm having a heck of a time getting my system to boot OS X. I have tried multiple installs with various "customize" options. The system is able to boot from the installation DVD and completes the installation. Following a reboot, the system attempts to load OS X then reboots.

I've tried install with the following distributions: XxX 10.5.6, iDeneb 10.5.6, iAtkos 10.5.6

Any suggestions?

It's your i7 processor causing the problem. I think you need to install the voodoo kernel and boot with the busratio=20 flag. You can add this into the com.apple.boot.plist to save typing it in on every boot.

Alternately once booted up you can replace the voodoo kernel with the one from this thread (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=162100).

Thank you, I will give this a try this evening.

OK... the busratio=20 solved the reboot problem. I've got everything working except the sound (ALC889)

I used XxX 10.5.6 Install DVD.

note: had to set BIOS to IDE for the install, then back to AHCI following install for it to work.

Any help on the sound would be great.

Used the Voodoo kernel

Is there a process to safely run the Apple software Update for 10.5.7?
