Okay... before I start this off with what is going on I'm going to say that I was able to get into the Mac OS before. My problems were (at the time) GFX card wasn't working properly, no sound (I got that fixed), no WiFi (waiting on kext / fix for that). After I installed a pack for my nVidia card I was able to change screen resolutions, however upon attempting to launch WoW, I received an error saying it couldn't launch the 3d accelerator.

I believed this to be an issue with my selection of the nVidia kexts. So I decided to try and re-install. However after re-installation, I can't get it to boot anymore! I always get some different message. I had it working without any special boot strings or anything, now I cannot get it to go at all, and stupid me didn't write down the selection I had used.

I am using a Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q711.

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8600
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 9700M GTS
Intel® Wi-Fi Link 5100AGN (802.11a/g/n)

Any help on getting this in working order is greatly appreciated. I have found myself in the iPhone developer program and I am saving up to purchase a Mac Mini, but in the meantime, I want to start experimenting with mac and getting used to it.

This is the ONLY version of mac I have gotten to install (let alone get into the installer).

As I recall I changed two bios settings AFTER I installed iATKOS 5i to get in into the OS. I'm going to try turning them back during install and see if I can get this going.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Update:

I'm not sure what I did, but I got it going for now and I was able to update to 10.5.7

However, my gfx card issue is still existing.

When I try to launch World of Warcraft I receive the following error:

World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration.

As mentioned above, my gfx card is NVIDIA® GeForce® 9700M GTS (512).

I installed NVIDIA 9000 Series Driver v2 and I attempted to use OSX86Tools to create an EFI string and enable QuartzGL.

I'm not sure if I did that right, since OSX86Tools did not give an option for my 9700M GTS card.

How can I get 3D acceleration working on this?

Thanks!

Hi Folks
I have 3 OS's on my box Toshiba X305-Q701.
I have had stints on Linux and have Kubuntu , but really , Mac has been French to me .
After seeing those Mac Vs PC Hilarious ads ( I might not agree to many ...but what the...LMAO they are funny....) ...I thought why not give it a try.Mac OS on my PC.
Please can someone tell me if my hardware is supported. The Wiki HCL does not mention my laptop but I see someone has one close to mine.
Here go the specs
P7350 2Ghz 4G Ram C2D
NVDIA GEForce 9700 GTS
Atheros AR9281 Wi-fi Card
Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller
Reatek HD Audio
Now is there a concept of some wrapper program in Mac , that can take W drivers and plug them in Mac and make them work
I am willing to put in that effort but before I do that , I just want to know that I can get at least the network , graphics, Bluetooth and sound going.
Many thanks
Sam

Sieger007,

it seems it is reeal bad to be you my man cause 10,5,6 will deffinitaly not go with your specs but you shall look for your exact "portable computer" model so you might gonna have some chance...
