ok guys, since I screwed up my iAtkos 5i install messing around with kexts, I decided to start over. I attempted to install iPC 10.5.6 but I got some weird message as soon as it started. Hmm...oh well back to the drawing board. I install iAtkos 5i again and heres what I selected in the customize screen:
iAtkos MAIN
Bootloader- PC EFI V9
X86 Patches-
Decrypters
- Apple Decrypt
SMBIOS Drivers
- SMBIOS-EFI Air
ACPI
-Stock ACPI modified
Disabler.kext
Drivers
VGA
nVidia
-nVidia laptop
EFI strings for nVidia
-8xxx
System
-laptop battery
Network
-Broadcom 440x

That is it. That is the complete selections I selected. My trackpad worked until after the install; same for keyboard. I'm on a USB keyboard/mouse--this is a no biggie.
I do not have SOUND or WIRELESS. And for soem odd reason, my graphics STILL aren't recognized as I'm still on software instead on hardware in the system profiler. It recognizes my firewire though! So guys, Please, please, please i beg you help me out to get my graphics working so I can play around with iphoto, iweb, idvd and see if a MAC is really for me. I don't have $1k just to go throw down on something to see I really don't like it, you know. I'm basicly back to where I started; minus me updating to 10.5.7 as I haven't done that yet again....I'm on 10.5.5---Inspiron 1520 :'(

You should have not use both nvidia EFI Strings and nvidia laptop kexts, either use an nvidia injecter or an EFI string.
Try removing both and installing some nvidia laptop kext that supports your specific graphics card.
Also you may need to some ps2 support to get the trackpad working.
Also I would ditch the modded ACPI (it should be not needed with current ps2 solutions) and replace whatever kext "laptop battery" installed with voodoobattery's latest version.

Thank you Thorazine74!!
I tried your advice and here's what i have:
iAtkos 5i Main
Bootloader
-PC EFI V9
X86 Patches
-Apple Decrypt
SMBIOS Drivers
-SMBIOS Enablers
-SMBIOS EFI Air
ACPI
-Stock ACPI modified
Disabler Kext
PS/2
Drivers
-VGA
-nVidia
-EFI Strings for nVidia
-8xxx
System
-laptop battery
Network
-Broadcom 440x

I tried the x86 ACPI but it just got hung up after the successful install on the reboot. So I erased the drive again and did the above. Goods News: You got my trackpad and keyboard working!!! BAD new----still have software for graphics for some reason. :(
I don't know why I can't get this freakin 8400 nVidia card to work. I hate this trial and error cause its so time consuming. I don't have a clue how to do the kext thing and already screwed it up once.....thats why I went ahead with the laptop battery and modified ACPI. The battery displays correctly. I still don't have wireless either. BUT MY MAIN CONCERN is getting that damn graphics card to work so I can play around with the "cool" apps---iweb, iphoto etc. If you can offer ANY more help...I'm listening...and thanks for all ya'll have done so far----Inspiron 1520 :'(

If by "the kext thing" you mean installing kexts after system is installed, get kext helper or osx86tools and you can install kexts with point a click. If you install wrong graphics kext you may stop the system from booting so you need to find out how to recover from that, the easiest way would be using windows and macdrive, deleting the non-working kext you have installed and reboot with -f flag so the kextcache gets refreshed.
For the graphics mobile cards are sometimes different so maybe standard EFI Strings wont work for them, I would try maybe nvinjectgo or natit (not sure), remember to remove the EFI String first.

Still need help as I'm clueless as to the kexts. I'm so frustrated as people are getting freakin Dell minis and loading OS X with hardly amy problems. I want a little MORE machine than the minis ......but its seriously got me thinkin!!!! Does OS X not need that much processing power? Man I want to run it on my Core 2 duo though!!!--Inspiron 1520

Guys? Anyone? I know ya'll are probably tired of answering what seems to be the same question over and over....but I'm truely lost in the "Mac world". I need help figuring out what kext to make my nVidia 8400 work with QE/CI support. Again, I have iAtkos 5i installed on my 80Gb USB harddrive, but its useless to me without the graphics hardware support so I can get a feel for iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb, etc.. Again, anyone please help.---Desperate Inspiron 1520
