iATKOS v7 10.5.7 Intel/AMD DVD

you can grab it from tpb..

Attention!

- This DVD is designed for Non-Apple x86 computers (PC). So, do not try to boot it on Apple Hardware!

- This DVD includes Apple's Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7 (9J61) installation for Intel and AMD CPUs, some basic drivers and x86 patches.

- Make sure that the md5 checksum of your iATKOS iso image matches the one in md5.rtf file. Do this MD5 check just before mounting or doing anything with the iso image! Otherwise you may have a faulty DVD image. Use quality media/burner and burn slowly.

- The oscar goes to Apple and OSX86 community..

Information:

- This OSX86 installation DVD release supports both GPT and MBR partitioned harddrives.

- Full retail main system like boot132 installation.

- You can make Clean, Upgrade (from previous versions of OS X on Intel/AMD), Refresh (renew your existing 10.5.7 installation) and driver-only installs using iATKOS v7 DVD. Upgrade/Refresh is highly successful on previous iATKOS installs and will mostly work for other installations too, read the readme for the process.

- You can update your running system using software updater just like real Macs on most PC hardware(Intel/AMD).

- Easy installation on RAID targets with manual bootloader installers and packages.

- Enhanced hardware compatibility: various systems including ATI, SiS, VIA chipset motherboards, enhanced nVidia VGA support with universal efi string and modified enablers.

Minimum hardware requirements: x86 SSE2 CPU, 512MB RAM, 10GB free space on target partition, OpenGL VGA card.

Recommended hardware requirements: Intel Core or AMD x2 CPU, 1GB RAM, 15GB free space on target partition, nVidia GeForce 6600 or better - ATI X1300 or better - Intel GMA 950 or X3100 VGA card.

Motherboard (the most important part) should be compatible for you to boot iATKOS v7 DVD and install natively.

Please read the readme carefully before anything.

Now I'm waiting to receive my new hard drive to test it out soon, I can't do it on my current one... since its working at 100% on 10.5.5 by iAtkos 5i

So yeah, till the new HD arrives... its going to be a separate install :P

Anyways I did manage to boot the DVD it runs perfectly fine.. I can't wait to test an installation

Have You tried MagicISO or PowerISO? That Might do the trick Man:cool:

Are You using a SATA ported DVD/RW-R?

If so use Your IDE Ported Burner instead Bro

I got past the ERROR....:D

as you Said... I played with the IDE/SATA drivers in the iATKos v7 customization & Selected INTEL SATA/IDE driver....;)

And lo! it went past the "still waiting for Root device"

But then the boot stopped at a blank BLACK SCREEN... GoDDD Damn....

I booted with -V flag... also tried -x (safe mode) but it never reaches anywhere. Any ideas. please...

P.S.: I tried to delete NVIDIA drivers but I cannot even reach the -s mode. Black screen Everywhere.

Hello all,

Here is what I have done so far...

burned the image using magic iso success first time.. I was surprised.
tried installing on an 80g sata drive which has been formatted and ergo is empty

ASUS M2A-VM mobo
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+
Cpu Socket Socket AM2 (940)
4gb - 2x2gb ddr2 ram 667mhz
80gb sata for the installation

I recently bought the 4gb kit to make sure that the system could handle it, and i have posted my system on other forums to get advice no luck so far, but it seems that my system is running a little slower and now wacky than b4. I also think that the mobo is not capable.

Any how i tried installing it and all i got was the apple logo screen with a continuous timer and a no entry sign. I tried something else, don't really know what I did but it got to the point of being stuck on finding a root system device. Anyhelp will be great, as I am sick of windows and microsoft and I am a poor student who is saving up for a mac!
Until that happens I wanna try this.

iATKOS v7 is running smooth on my msi u100, had only to install correct gma950 drivers, the provided drivers in the dvd didnt work out of the box, but everything else is running great, only thought is about updating to 10.5.8, i know the sleep problem and sleepenabler.kext can fix it but i don't wanna mess with it, 10.5.7 is great!

I have successfully installed iATKOS v7 on a dual boot PC with a Gigabyte mobo - everything works well with the exception of the video card (Nvidia 9600GT 1MB) which limits my resolution to 1024x768x32 ... any suggestions on what is the easiest way of fixing this .. I have a monitor capable of displaying 1360x768x32 and would like to acheive this resolution.

I have modified the .plist without success.

In iAtkos V7 DVD, choose NVENABLER under VGA in customization and choose nothing else regarding your GPU. If you already tried some kexts or anything, you need to remove them or reinstall OSX.

Brilliant! Thank you very much ... it worked ... now I have a full range of resolutions available.

Your solution should be pinned for other users who have had the same problem and, judging by google queires, been messing about with sometimes less then adequate results.

Once again, thank you!

hi, Not to sure what to make of this but i installed iatkos v7 onto my Dell inspiron 6400 laptop all seems to go well until reboot when all i get is a disco track playing but no video(gui), tried various boots -v -f etc still comes back to the same thing, with no report of a failier.
I have reinstalled a few times with different customizations but no luck, i realise it may well be video driver related but to be honest im stumped,
I have managed to install IPC version but had problems with audio so thought i would try another distro,
I will keep trying different customizations but a pointer or 2 would be nice.

Cheers

CRC32: CCC9A803
MD5: 6395BE5253F53F716ED042DB1DD599F3
SHA-1: 4712B9A9354E3591974CFD3C6A453CEC1157E5A5

I confirm that iAKTOS V7 works. my reg is: MSI P55-GD80 (great mobo for OC), i5 760 default 2.66GHZ (OC to 4GHZ stable) 4GB DDR3 Dual Channel 1600 MHZ (had to adjust settings in BIOS to get it run at default speed), Nvidia GTX 260, 230 SATA HD, and an LG DVD-RW SATA. in order to get iAKTOS V7 to install and work I had to use AHCI in BIOS for the drives , booted on DVD and used "cpus=1 busratio=20" installation started, partitioned HD to OSX extended journaled and erased it and mad it GUID. and customized installation, this is what I choose: iAKTOS V7, Chameleon V2, /Extra, DSDT, DSMOS, 9.7.0 kernel voodoo, APIC driver, Disabler, OHR, Remove TyMCE, AHCI, Intel SATA/IDE, Voodoo HDA, Realtek R1000, Post Install Actions. for my GTX 260 I choose Natit Enabler, and Nvidia Mac driver installer for GTX 2XX. if you have PS/2 keyboard and/or mouse choose the apple drive.
Add the cpus=1 and busratio=20 to com.boot.apple.plist to avoid typing them at every start up.
booted normal, plugged in my flash drive and USB hard drive 300GB and they are both recognized and functional. sound works, internet works, firewire detected but have no device to try it. Iphone detected but iTunes needs to be updated to 8.2 or later.

iATKOS v7 has worked well for me on an Asus P5B with Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, Asus P5B Premium (Vista Edition) with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, MSI K9N v3 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ and an old Dell 8400 with a Pentium 4 Prescott.

Not everything has worked out of the box, of course, but booting from a DVD, installing, booting the install and getting a basic setup has worked on all of them.

I have an MSI P55-GD80 socket1153,8GB 1600 MHZ, i5 750 CPU (OC to 4GHZ, and aGTX260, if anyone has a P55 motherboard you can ask and I will post a walkthrough of installation and bios changes I had to do, I assume this will work with anyP55 mobo. some things do not work thou, like MIC and 7.1 channel, time machines. I was able to update to 10.5.8 through software update, I did a complet update to everything, itunes, quicktime etc. then I used the iAKTOS v7 dvd reinstlled drivers andpatches only, and working perfect. this V7 is a well done job.

Hello!

It's my first post, so hello to everybody.

I have one problem which bothers me for a long time. I installed iPhone sdk with xcode included, because i'd like to write some mobile apps. The problem is, that i can't open library window in the interface builder. Reinstalling xcode or complete MacOs didn't help. On my macbook i can normally build UI, but on my hackintosh (which is my desktop computer) i can't.

The xcode from original Leopard dvd, without iphone sdk also doesn't work. I think that iAtkos v2 is the one which doesn't allow me to use xcode propperly, because if i install 10.5.2 (kalyway) it works ok, but iPhone sdk requires at least 10.5.7.

Please help me.

Thanks, bye

I have tried to create a virtual machine using iAtkos v7 with VMware but everytime I try and boot from the ISO image I get the following error

System config file '/com.apple.Boot.Slist' not found

Also in the risk of sounding stupid what is a MD5 Checksum and how do you do one ?

bobster
01-25-2010, 07:27 AM
An MD5Sum is a digital "fingerprint" that identifies a file. If you're download was no good then the hash wouldn't match. Most OS have MD5 check methods built in except windows. There is a concise walkthrough on the ubuntu.com page. Just search MD5. If you need a Windows based check, search for MD5Sum. Top result should be a link to Nullriver Software. There is a free simple checksum at that link.

Even if your check is good, you could still have a bad burn. I had this with my first install attempt and ended up being my burner. Even burning at the lowest speed resulted in errors. Assume there was something wrong with the calibration of the drive, but long story short, burn finished good, install failed, new drive, new burn, good install.

Sorry I can't help you with you're VMWare problem.

I have a successful installation since the time of its release (iAtkos V7). This is the most stable distro I have tried. Works out of the box. You can check my sig for my rig. It's a 12" notebook, I mean the crappiest ever on China market.

It runs stable and I have updated to 10.5.8 thru Apple Software Update, it was painless. Been up and running for more than 6 months already, installed lots of apple software, and it's running quite well.

Have done my dsdt patch already so I have removed some of the unnecessary kext. Sleep works well, got QE/CI. Upgraded the RAM, replaced the intel WLan to Broadcom 4311 to be more "airport compatible"(lots of these in my place at less than 10USD each), then next would be an SSD drive and a processor upgrade. Feels like "Mac", runs like "Mac".

iAtkos V7, awesome distro for Leopard.

Thumbs up to the team who made it possible.

This is my first go at a Mac so please bare with me. Wanted to see how a mac works before i decide on buying one.

Downloaded the iATKOS v7 and burnt to a DVD. Created a new virtual machine with 1 gb ram, 80 hard drive space and ran the install. after the install the screen was stuck at the gray screen with the apple.
Did a reset on the virtual machine and went to boot single user. then it got stuck at some point (screen snap attached). Following is my computer setup:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P

Just a quick note to mention this, as I've found surprisingly few references to my laptop when searching around. Anyhow, installed this distro pretty much on all default settings, plus a couple of drivers. A stark contrast to the latest Hazard and CCLloyd releases which I've tried in the past few days.

So far, I have to say, iATKOS seems the most mature distro to me. I've now tried installing just about every OSx86 release on two desktops (both self-built, i7 and AMD Phenom) and I remember getting close to success only with iATKOS on those as well. This time, it was just night and day:

Created an 8Gb partition (just to try, didn't even expect it to work, will make larger in the future of course)

Picked a couple of drivers that seemed to make sense to me (Voodoo EFI graphics, PS/2 with touchpad, broadcom wifi, realtek audio) and let it rip. It was getting close to finishing when the screen went black and the machine rebooted.

Well, I thought something went wrong, so I erased the partition and tried again with all default and no drivers. Same thing happened, except this time I actually ejected the DVD and booted from my new Mac partition, and saw the welcome messages fly. Alas, since I didn't choose any drivers at install, I had no keyboard :(

Rebooted, installed JUST the drivers this time and voila - EVERYTHING seems to be running just fine, it picked up my wifi right away, sound was playing and my touchpad is recognized. I haven't tested the webcam or card reader, but I never really use them on my PC anyway, am sure something could be done about them as well if necessary.

Now, I'd really only like to know how to update it to Snow. Anybody with a quick and easy answer?

Many guys told me that this is my best shot for having Mac on PC - I've never used Mac but i developed Windows Mobile apps and now would like to do IPhone programming.

I cannot afford a Mac so want to try out hackintosh - I've bought an external harddrive of 300 GB to have Mac installed on it. Possible right? So that I effect my current PC windows xp in no way.

I have Pentinum 4 (R) ThinkCentre 8113D5U 3 GB Ram and around 500 GB HD in PC now. Will that support? is it possible to install hackintosh on this PC?

If it is possible, then anyone who've tried this in easy language how to do this? as am a programmer, web developer but I suck at installing such hardware challenging programs.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

I found this forum while searching google for way to install OSX on my Intel based PC, I was hoping maybe someone could help me out with a problem i am facing. I do not want to dual boot Win 7 and OSX I only want OSX on my PC.

I am downloading this iATKOS v7 as I type this.

Here are my system specs:
Current OS Win 7 Ult 64Bit
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz
Gateway Godzilla-M10 Mainboard (Chipset Intel - PM45, Southbrifge Intel - 8280 1IM(ICH9-M))
4Gb DDR3 Dual Channel 533 MHz
NVIDIA GeForese GTX 260M (1Gb GDDR3)
HDD 1
500Gb SATA 3.0
HDD 2
500Gb SATA 3.0

How do I install this OSX on my laptop when im running a 1Tb raid?

For all of those who got stuck on waiting for root device, make sure to check all appropriate SATA kexts during customize. For instance, AHCI, VIA, ATI or any relevant kexts. Another way is to simply install on a USB hard-drive.

If the problem is choppy sound, try booting using the flag idlehald=0. If sound doesn't work even when seemingly proper kext and version is selected, make sure to have removed all other sound kexts first, and to have cleared kext cache and set kext permissions afterwards -- a useful tool in doing so is osx86tools.

I hope this helps anyone.

P.S

Perfect install (dvd runs smoothly when use cpus=1 or mach_970). Perfect run/sound/video, but no big desktop -- only clone mode. AMD Athlon X2/Ati Radeon X1250/ALC 268

Hello,

Could you please suggest me the suitable driver for my Laptop and PC configuration. I have tried couple of other version of Snow Leopard (not by iAtkos), but not able to boot them after installation. I find iAtkos v7 more promising then others but don't want to mess up like I did with the other versions. So please help me make a correct driver selection.

I can't seem to get the OSX installer to actually boot up, as soon as the apple logo pops up the computer crashes and reboots, I've been trying different bios settings but nothing seems to work, any tips would be awesome.

Running Intel i7 with ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard and an Nvidia 8800, i've tried all sorts of methods to install but nothing seems to work. Emprie EFI, iATKOS, plain darwin with OSX DVD. I got nothing here :(

Alright so I tried installing it on an old HP Pavillion. Installed with the default options. It boots to a graphical screen saying that the system is loading and then goes to a white screen with an Apple on it and just sits there. Obviously it's a hang or freeze of some sort.

I would've dual booted on my new build (AMD Phenom II X6) but it always has kernal panics (used the same settings on the HP as my custom build and my HP got farther than my custom build with no panics).

What exactly should I do to fix this?

Specs (for the Pavillion)

Pentium 4 1.8 GHz
1 GB Kingston HyperX Memory (x2 512 MB Sticks)
80 GB PATA HDD
CD/DVD-ROM
CD-ROM
AGP Graphics Card (of what kind, idk)

Thanks!

Thats the same problem I am running into. I am trying to dual boot my laptop with windows 7 and iatkos v7 but i cant seem to boot after the installation is complete. I heard you have to install chameleon bootloader but i dont understand when to do that or even how to do that.

Anyone familiar with that process. I have windows 7 right now and have another partition erased for iatkos.

Hi there ! I installed IatkOS V7 and it installed correctly. The only problem I have is I'm unable to make the keyboard and mouse work, I have both in USB. I tried many different drivers ( in the customize menu in the Installer) but no one worked. I've tried also a PS2 keyboard, the lights on the kb are one but it's not working.

Anyone can help me ?

Thanks !

Hello,

I'm not very competant with computers and have arrived at the problem of formatting my HD.

I understand the HD must be formatted as either MBR or GPT, however, I had intended on installing iAtkos in a partition so that I may keep Windows 7 on my Dell Vostro 1015 laptop but I am informed that it is not possible to format a single partition as MBR/GPT and that you must format the whole HD.

I do not wish to do this, is there any way I can install iAtkos whilst keeping Windows 7 without having to format the whole HD?

Thanks in advance guys :D
