View Full Version : HD 3650 Glitches After Update to 10.5.7

So I found a set of drivers you have to install with Pacifist to get going well in OS X awhile back (if there were a name on them I'd give it to you but all they read is "HD3650 Drivers", just like when I downloaded them). They worked flawlessly until I updated to 10.5.7. Now I have strange bouts of web page tearing and can't quite figure out the cause.
I tried -v, reinstalling the drivers (twice), and making sure the card isn't overheating. All appears fine.
3D performance, strangely, seems unaffected.
Does anyone have any clue how I resolve this? I was considering trying an EFI string to supplement the kexts, but as it didn't need the string before I have my doubts.
Thanks in advance for any hints on this. I apologize there's no screenshot showing my problem but it's a sporadic one that never appears at a good time to take a screeny.:(

That sounds like something's wrong with the WebKit engine. It could have something to do with the Safari 4 update. Does the same thing happen in FireFox?

It does this in Firefox and with various programs with web interfaces (like the World of Webcraft webpage stuff on the UI with the Play button before you enter the game itself). They're flickery sort of glitches that vanish when the page stops moving. In any case, though, this isn't my browser at work, it appears there's a bug somewhere in the 2D with my card drivers. I *think* it may have to do with the Framebuffer kext, as replacing it affected how the glitches appear. instead of a consistent but sporadic page tearing effect, I now get an equally sporadic "white-out" effect on a portion of the webpage when scrolling.
If it's the framebuffer, though, would an EFI string possibly help?

EDIT: Picture added showing the woe itself. It finally appeared while the camera was handy lol. Frogive the fuzziness as I had to scroll at the same time as I held the camera and I'm not so good at one-handed camera use. Anyway the pattern of distortion is always different but that's how it affects the screen.

Now I have iChat tearing occasionally, too. Blech, wish I knew where a better driver was.
