View Full Version : 9400GT or 7300GS/LE for Snow Leopard?

Hi,

I'm recently building a (very) cheap microATX slim PC that will solely run OS X on it. I'm almost done with my setup and I stumbled on choosing my video card.

Since Snow is almost amongst us, I want this PC to run it. I'll be purchasing a G31 motherboard that has GMA 3100, but not supported :(

Anyway, I need a LOW PROFILE video card to fit my microATX slim case.

When to newegg and found that I only have 3 options:

1) 9400GT (low profile ready)
2) 7300GS or LE
3) 8400GS - I don't like this though, unless it runs better that the other 2, please let me know.

My budget is only $50 and I don't care about performance. As long as it runs Full QI/CE in Leopard and Snow Leopard, that is more than enough for me.

I wish I could choose a better and more compatible video card but It has to be less than $50 and has to be low profile.

ATM, my main concern is running Snow Leopard in Full QI/CE and of course, stability.

Any beta testers that has these cards?

Thank you so much!

here is the same question.

i have a asus P5K-VM G55 Barebone with a GMA 3100 on-board Intel Grafikcard. Also i have a ATI Radeon HD4550. Unfortunatly no support for a higher resolution as 1024x768. :-(

So i also need to buy a new low profile grafikcard.

Which one is the best choice for me - maybe a full supported nvidia or ati that is cooled passive?

I buy a 9400GT, ASUS nvidia 9400GT 512M DDR2 , I works well WITH QE/CI both is leopard and snow.
what you need is just to use the efi string, very easy!

Great! Thanks for suggesting waneto2005. I'm actually looking at that card. EN9400GT from Newegg is cheap. I think I'm going for that.
