Hi,
no ideas anybody?

What I did meanwhile is to disable Sata in Bios and installed L on an old IDE Drive. Works just fine!
As soon I enable Sata again, (I need that, it is my primary HD with all Data on it....)
i got the same error. I can't even boot from DVD, no way to get further.
Is there another kernel out there probably or something else i can do?

Should I guess you are using an nforce 4 mobo?
If so why not try the older kext from 10.5.1

HI lanxxx,

thanks for answering.
Actually it's an older board, NVIDIA nForce3.
I tried to replace AppleNForceATA.kext with an older one and also changes my the deviceID,
but didn't help. Is there another kext i might try to change or which one where you talking about?
Thanx,
p

Your problem is the NForceATA.kext.
I also have a MB witn nforce3 (KN8) and this is what worked for me.
Go to:

http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues#toc10

Following the instructions there, DELETE the AppleNForceATA.kext, rebuild ISO and reburn. When you get to the installer, DON'T choose the AppleNForceATA.kext under the drivers section. Choose the AppleVIAATA.kext and it should install nicesely.
If you can, set apart a small partition for restoring the DVD, that way you will not waste DVDs experimenting.
Good luck! :-D

maclinux, jiiiiha, you are my man!

so why the f*kc do they call it nforceATA if i need viaATA for nforce,
but anyway, worxs like a charm. I replaced that one in the extensions root folder and inside the AppleioATA, where i deleted the intel one. Dont's know if i needed it on both directions, but i don't mind as long it is running like now!
Am acutally writing this on 10.5.2. Thanx to Zephyroth.
Maclinux, you saved my Saturday Night, so I can go for a couple of drinks now;-)
Thanx a lot,
P

Glad to help! ;-)
Maybe this should be added to the known issues wiki.
Also, maybe there could be a way to choose the AppleVIAATA.kext when the DVD is booted.
Anyway, great work Zephyroth! Thank you!
