When loading Darwin, my system automatically reboots itself, and it can not even get to the installer screen.

Is this a problem related to EFI?

I have another HDD for Leopard (IDE) and two IDE DVD-roms, for installation I disconnected all other 2 HDDs.

Doesn't my Motherboard work with this release or I do have to modify BIOS Settings?

Thanks in advance for all your Help,

Kael

My Specs:
Sempron 2800+ (SSE2/SSE3) @1.61GHz
ASUS K8N4-E SE NForce 4 Chip

perhaps lol time for an upgrade i guess.
also i tried the iATKOS disk with the amd patch and that did boot.

Do you mean you patched the iATKOS' iso and installed the PC EFI? And do you get 10.5.2 system update? How?

i havent had a chance to go thru the install. i had to go to work and im doing homework right now on the pc but yes i downloaded the iATKOS iso and patched it with amd patch and i booted for me and took me to the installer. iATKOS is 10.5.1 however but i think the 10.5.2 update should work from the thread thats on this boards

those are not the pcs i want osx on tho... i want to install it on my compaq v2000z but i keep getting the "waiting on root device" message

For this,I know there's solution(http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues#toc10),you may try it.I just wanna see if you can update your system by the package made by eddie11c(http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=300&page=5#Item_10) with full EFI support. Can you try it later?

i've seen the wiki and i dont know where to look for a kext file that supports my chipset which is SB400 i think. i was just thinking of installing to the HD in a different pc and swaping the drive back to see if it would work.

but back to topic, yes i'll try it on my pc later today, its 3:30 am and im trying to finish up a paper for school lol.

@kael, I make a successful install of iATKOS patched for AMD, everything works fine with the kexts from 1-st release of Zephyroth.
Update with no problem to 10.5.2 with eddie11's pkg , but GraphicUpdate doesn't work. Pc_efi on iATKOS not work for me.

Do you have about 2-3 minutes delay with black screen after update to 10.5.2 when booting?Do you use the 9.20 kernel if w/o PC_EFI?What is the overall performance?

Regards!

I'm having the same problem with the dvd rebooting soon as it begins to load. but Zephyroth's 10.5.1 amd, did work for me just couldn't get the diskutil to partition my SATA HD. it could see it and display info about it, but couldnt modify it. any help would be great.

what is EFI, i know it has something to do with BIOS and booting. is it something i have to install or change my partition to BEFORE trying to boot this DVD?

Please tell us your spec first. For the disk utility formating, maybe you can try IDE HDD,I once solve the same problem by changing the SATA HDD.Can you re-partition your whole HDD?

@kael, Yes I had black screen each time I start the Leo. No new kernel, couse it want pc_efi, witch not work for me.
Performance was the same, I think couse of using the old kernel.

@althon,
If so,there is no need to upgrade to 10.5.2?--Zephyroth's v1 works perfectly with my machine.

I've tried repartitioning the whole drive and it wont, it just keeps giving me an "input/output error" message. i've tried erasing also. i've tried using terminal to do it by hand also. no luck. i do have some spare IDE's around but this box dont have IDE ports only SATA.

I read somewhere that there was an issue within diskutil that was not working properly. but i dont have any other OS X disc to try with. thats the main reason i downloaded this new 10.5.2. EFI. hoping if this one didnt intall completely then i would just use it to partition the drive then simply use the first disc to do the intall on the newly/correctly formated drive.

btw. im not trying to dual boot at this point just want to try out Leopard. seeing as how i've always only used Windows.

If you can not use IDE,you can try to download Tiger 10.4.9 v3 by uphuck team,it is universal one fit AMD and Intel and the disk utility of it may solve your problem.

Im having the same problem.
AMD SEMP. 2800+ with SSE2/SSE3.

It restarts right after this screen, http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o172/paulerxx/DSCF3085.jpg
Does anyone have a fix?

kael
02-28-2008, 01:27 AM
Yes,another reboot loop with Sempron 2800+(SSE2/SSE3),so it's getting more and more clearing that this poor CPU dose NOT support
PCEFI? Though it maybe NOT be possible to solve this issue,I really wanna figure out who causes it,can any great Gurus here tell us WHY? Zephyroth and eddiec11,please, comfirm us what it's in the mist?

@paulerxx,can you add your Specs? I wanna know whether the mobo could be the trouble-maker.

Thanx & Regards!

Did you try reburning the iso at a lower speed?

Hi!

I hope i have understand your problem right. You cant get to the installation. Do you get the Apple-Screen with its loading symbol?
I had the problem, that after 10 seconds of the loading screen my machine had to restart. So it wasn't possible to get to the installation.

Did you tried to pull out all harddiscs (ide + s-ata), so that the only thing left is the cd/dvd-device?
That solved my problem of rebooting. So I changed some master and slave things. I also had to put my
DVD device on the same cable as my IDE harddisc. Right after the installation i was able to set up the
old cable structure.

Good luck, bye
