hi everyone
want to thank Zephyroth for great work first)
I've successfully installed 10.5.1, it worked. When 10.5.2. appeared, i decided to do everything from scratch. So it began...
The installer bootloader stops at a grey screen with a sort of a "turn off" sign and a message like "shutdown or restart" in 5 languages.

I tried the -v mode, it says "unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI".

my specs:
mb: ASUS M2NBP-VM CSM
Athlon 64 x2 5200
2 gb ddr2
ati radeon 2600 xt
separate ide-channel drive

thanx in advance. guess, it's something BIOS related..

Hi, you know the same thing happened to me, but... I was unaware that in the BIOS i disabled the SSE & SSE2 instructions, and because of that i got a kernel panic all over
Try checking your BIOS and put it as Normal as possible for you and try it again, Hope it helps...

thanks!
the BIOS actually was "normal" but it crashed (fate!) right before the installation so that the default values were set.
wonder what tweaking is needed to be done...

boot with -v. it should say what the error is. though the screen seems the same, the reasons may be different.

now trying 10.5.1 as it worked for me... but it says that some package verification failed at 6 minutes left. i'm definitely lucky.

I noticed that in the screenshot you posted it is giving a kernel panic about ACPI, I had that a few installs ago and was able to get past it by booting off of the install DVD and opening a terminal. Then I deleted /Volumes/{WhateveryourOSXVolumeisnamed}/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUSpeedstep.kext (or something close to that). If you restart with -f to force a rebuild of the cache, that should get you past the kernel panic.

bob, thanks!
the main problem is that i cannot even proceed to the install. it panics in just about 5 secs from the DVD booting..

Hi,

finaly I have gotten myself a copy of the new 10.5.2 Zephyroth. Although I could not boot it to the installer (couldn't install it yet). When I put the DVD in it says to start up from the dvd press any key, or press f8 for start up options. Shouldn't this say to install MAC OS X not start up from DVD?

So I press any key and it goes into the nice apple bootscreen, but after 10-20 seconds it displays a black X in a circle in the center of the screen. So no luck, i tried booting with -x (safemode) but I get an error message:
EBIOS read error: Device timeout
Block 7110492 Sectors 64

Then after the error message, it does the same thing (goes into the apple bootscreen, but after 10-20 seconds it displays a black X in a circle in the center of the screen). So no luck. I am trying to install this on an IDE hard drive.

I was able to install Zephyroth 10.5.1 just fine although no sound, so I shouldn't have any problems (or so I thought). Do I have to install Leopord (10.5.1) first? I am just trying this on a formatted secondary hard drive.

Because i am still new to this I can't tell you all that much about my machine (specifications), but I can give you my pc's HP support webpage:

Please Help :)
Thanks and great job Zephyroth for finally releasing this (even though I have problems, I am sure it'll be great).
Delian

Same thing happens on my system also. I've tried all kinds of flags and it just seem to not work.
10.5.1 install starts up fine. this one wont get past the first 5 secs of booting.

i did a -v flag and as i dont remember exactly what it says, i know it doesnt say anything failed loading correctly or anything.

scratch that last post. i reburned it at 1x write speed and it gets pasted that screen, now im just having other issues i'll see if i can work with.
FYI, initially i burned it at 16x, knowing that it could possibly cause issues, my bad.
