I want to put OS X on my Gateway MT6705, but I want to try the distro I use in a VM before I commit. According to the OSx86 wiki, the latest distro with specific instructions for my laptop is the Kalyway 10.5.2 distro. Because I'm familiar with it, I'm using VirtualBox. It starts up, but if I just straight boot, it fails. If I try the boot commands "-v -x", and any combination thereof, but every time (even with the straight boot), I get an error that states:

A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped.

It goes on to tell me to visit the VirtualBox website and post the log file and such, but I doubt that I would get better information than I would here.

Is the issue that OS X isn't compatible with VirtualBox, or am I doing something wrong?

Ok, well I scrapped the VirtualBox idea, and am going with VMware Server 2.0 since I found a guide online on how to set it up.

Needless to say, I'm hanging at the Darwin loader. I used the boot options

toh -vsince

mach_970 -vdidn't work. I get the post message for a while, then I'm bombarded by lots of errors about not being able to make a file since it's a read-only file system. Is there a way I can change the virtual disk to make it read/write?

EDIT: The same thing happens when I add the -x boot option, and the -f boot option causes the vm to restart the Darwin boot, but from the network, not the ISO
