body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: Verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } Hi

I have Acer Aspire 5935G and i tried to install iaktos v7, my hardware spec as following:
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9600 2 MB L2 cache 800 MHz
3GB DDR3 1066 MHz memory
320 GB HDD
2 graphiccard :
intel
ATI 4570 HD

The installation start/done successfully, however in the first run it stops and display a message "hold down power-off switch" , anybody can help on how to overcome this problem?

2 graphiccard :
intel
ATI 4570 HDI can't imagine a notebook which is using some Intel and a ATI Graka the same time.

If you selected VGA drivers for both at the setup, this should be the reason why a kernel-panic occurs.

Furthermore I am not really sure if there is a driver that supports 4570 HD yet, so I would recommend you not to select any graphic driver at setup.
Maybe that will make you able to boot into your system. :)

Thank Imkantus (http://www.infinitemac.com/member.php?u=8329), my notebook have 2 VGA cards as i mentioned, the problem i tried to install it with the basic installation but it doesn't work.

so can you answer me please on the following:
1- Do i need to start installation with -v cpus=2 memorytype=24 memoryspeed 1333
2- Do i need to select Vodoo Kenl in the installation and which one ? 9.5 or 9.7
3- Do i need to add SATA driver for my HDD
4- If i didn't select any drivers for the my sound card and VGA card, is that will cause kernl panic?
5- Is there is any important selections on the installation should i select them ?

Waiting for your kind reply,

i tried to install it with the basic installation but it doesn't work.K, maybe I have been wrong with my first suspicion, is it the same screen if you boot up in Verbose mode (-v at Bootprompt) ?

Maybe you're able to lunch your system using the Safemode (-x Option)?

1- Do i need to start installation with -v cpus=2 memorytype=24 memoryspeed 1333The option you start the installation with, don't affect the installed system itself, so I guess it's pretty irrelevant, if the installation works without it. ;)

2- Do i need to select Vodoo Kenl in the installation and which one ? 9.5 or 9.7Well, basically no. The default OS X Kernel (usually called Vanilla) is compatible with the most Intel Core CPUs, so you won't need patched Kernel.
But of course you can give a try to a voodoo patched Kernel.

3- Do i need to add SATA driver for my HDDThis belongs to the SATA mode your system is configured to use and to the Chipset (Southbridge) which is used on your notebooks board.

4- If i didn't select any drivers for the my sound card and VGA card, is that will cause kernl panic? As I am not sure, what exactly is the cause, this is quite worth a try...

This laptop model has a hybrid dual graphics chipset with either

nVIDIA GT 130M & GMA 4500mhd
or
ATI 4570 HD & GMA 4500mhd

It is designed so that the GMA 4500 can be used when less intensive tasks are at hand while the secondary card can be used for gaming and such. There is a switch that controls this on the keyboard. Im not sure how OSX would react to changing this on the fly.

I have not seen much support for the GMA 4500 or the ATI 4570. You will want to do some research and see if you can find someone who has gotten Quartz Extreme and Core Image working with one of the cards. As if you are not able to get QE/Ci supported you will only get 1024x768 and not be able to run certain applications and its probably not worth the trouble.

As if you are not able to get QE/Ci supported you will only get 1024x768 [...].You can adjust the resolution using bootflags. ;)

But thanks for explaning this technologie, seems I should pay more attention on what is everything made possible...

True but QE/Ci is pretty important.

It is a pretty cool idea to save power. :)

Thank you both for your help

As i told you the installation done successfully, however the Mac Os X doesn't work after installation.
i tried to use -x (Safe mode) to run the os, and it works in the safe mode.
now could you tell me what is the problem and why the os only works in the safe mode but it doesn't work normally.

in my case i can accept the low resolution since i installed the os only for iphone sdk.

and do you recommend for me to use any other package rather than iaktos v7 (i.e. ideneb 1 5 1 ... etc), or (ideneb 1 6 lite)

and i found in the internet that i can use intel 9XX vga driver for my GMA 4500 card, is it really work?

Thanks in advance.

Boot using -v and tell us where it hangs

I have not looked into the 4500 however It may be possible. Ill post back if I come across anything.
