I want to use the Voodoo kernel, as apparently it gives better performance on the Acer Aspire One.

Can I use the Voodoo kernel with the latest combo update or is vanilla the only way to do this?

Hi,

Generally yes, it is no problem to use an older Darwin version on newer OS X updates, but you might also check out the latest AnV XNU 9.8.0 (http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/anv-xnu-9-8-0-v1-6-t3651/), as it's using Voodoo sources on newer XNU release. :)

AnV 9.6.0 is working perfectly for me on 10.5.8, well except I need a matching System.kext and Seatbelt.kext to have everything working... which would be greatly appreciated if somebody would upload... but yes, 9.5.0 should work just fine.
