Hi to all and expecially to the guys that are working so hard to get us enjoying the Hackintosh computing.

I installed the 10.5.2 but after the installation (repeated 2 times since the "about a minute" stop) the pc boots and then goes in kernel panic.
there is a yellow line with the following message:
Failed to load extension com.orByte.driver.PCGenUSBEHCI and then, after some lines, the kernel panic- (see attachement)
Do you think that maybe coud be something related to IOUSBFamily.kext?
I tried to install the system many times, erasing the disk, and also burned a new installation dvd. I used the toh kernel but the situation doesn't change also without installing the sse3 kernel.I tried every installation solution possible.
I had previously successfully installed the 10.5.1 release without any problem (except atheros 5005g not working)
my system is : Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMI (AMD Turion64@2GHz CPU , 1GB RAM, 110GB HD, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100M card , Atheros 5005 WiFi card, LAN : Realtek RTL8139 - working ).
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement is the culprit. You need to remove it, but wont be able to get into single user mode to do so. If you have XP load up Macdrive or Transmac and delete that file from the /system/library/extensions folder. Then boot up the next time with -f.

thanks Eddie11c!
I had done it with macdrive, no panic anymore :)
..but now the problem is a message "still waiting for root device". I'm looking for a solution on forums.. any suggestion??
thx in advance

Try copying this in XP back to system/library/extensions folder and boot with -f from darwin.

thanks again, i've always tried to solve the problems alone, but with the help of
got the file and installed it. Meanwhile i've also tried with AppleOnboardPCATA.kext. each and both files give the same result:
I booted with -f -v
all the verbose lines run

and then i get a black screen with the cursor, that changes into the spinning coloured disk when de hd works.

Then i wait for long time but it continues to load things on the hd and i can't go on..
there is no request for username, and registration. The background remains black.

anyone with this problem?

try booting with -v -s and deleting the ATI kext files
/sbin/mount -uw /
rm -R /system/library/extensions/ATI*

Thanks a lot Eddie, i owe you a dinner..

i tried to go in -s user mode but it didn't work. it stopped booting before loading the bash
i tried then to use the installation dvd terminal and to execute your instructions. I found three Extensions.mktext files that i deleted, and on the disk root directory many directories were marked with a @ right after the rw-r(etc) line.
However i booted and came back to "still waiting for root device" problem..
I'm thinking that maybe in my Acer Aspire 5101AWLMI the 10.5.2 can't be installed.. in your opinion may i have some chanches?

I don't know, I have no firsthand experience with the ATI chipsets, just trying to help what little I can.

ok, the "still waiting for root device" problem is solved with the attached file on my ATI chipset, but still having the blank screen problem.
I'll try to reinstall again.. maybe is it due to a not perfect installation??

If it works i promise i'll make a post with the procedure...

just a question :

the 10.5.2 installation program can't mount other partitions or USB disks except the hfs formatted disk. If i use 5 minutes later the 10.5.1 i can mount everything.
Is it logic for you?
Could this be due to a bad dvd burning (as you say eddie) or bad image (but in that case i wouldn't be able to burn it, isn't it)?

thanks
