Solved all my problems...

Audio
I am using an Audigy 2 card, because the onboard sound has poor quality and by doing so i gained a FireWire port that the motherboard lacks - only 32bit mode for now

+ Sleep
Works, needs more testing...

+ Chipset

good to know that someone with the MSI p43 neo got things going.
I however have no luck.
i'm able to get a full running 10.6.1 retail install to my GA ep45-ds3r.
and an Abit p35-Pro.
both of which using Chameleon 2 + EFI 10.3.

but my other system with the MSI P43 neo3-f cannot get past the Kernel Panic!
I'm getting error trying build a DSDT.aml using Patcher02Beta5 and the latest bios from MSI.
i've tried to follow many guides, but non of which to do with this particular Motherboard and Snow Leopard.

if you could, please share your successful DSDT.AML and "Extra" package for me to test out.

here's my non working spec:

MSI p43 neo3-f
intel e7200 2.53ghz
ati 4850 512mb
onboard sound
2GB DDR2 crucial ballistix

Don't try to patch the bios file, extract dsdt.dsl from running system and patch that using Patcher02Beta5. If You have Windows on computer use Lavalys Everest for extraction or use Ubuntu live cd and run cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.dat. Then run iasl -d dsdt.dat and You have your dsdt.dsl ready for patching.

Yes, same here. My P43-Neo also works great except after sleep shutdown and restart no longer work. Mine wakes up nicely using usb keyboard, mouse or Apple remote.

I'm using version 1.9 but I don't have that machine at hand now. My sister's husband also wanted to test a Hackintosh. Now after two weeks of testing he is already planning to buy a real Mac or build his own :)

thanx for the tip, i got past the Kernel Panic and Snow Leopard finally booted!!
I use Ubuntu livecd's Terminal to extract DSDT.dsl using "cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.dat" --> "iasl -d dsdt.dat"
I then got the DSDT.aml by compiling "iasl -sa dsdt.dsl"

hope this helps other who still havent gotten a working dsdt.aml

now all i need is to get sound and ati 4850 working.
i've tried a few methods to get ATI 4850 working, but still no go.
EFI 10.3 & 10.4 with GraphicsEnabler=yes, added ID to ATI4800controller.kext & ATIRadeonX2000.kext.
I also tried the EFI string by adding the hex to device properties in com.apple.boot
no luck with EVOenabler either.

anyhow ,thanx for LiveCD tip...now i'm able to patch my own DSDT which everyone should learn. Its not so bad!

I got ATI 4850 working using EFI string.
I still cant sound to work. I patched DSDT for ep45-ds3r with ALC889 and that works great. but DSDT.dsl for p43-neo3-f doesnt have "Device (AZAL) or (HDEF)".
i've tried patching AppleHDA using ALC888.txt but still no sound.
anyone here got it working?
if so, what direction did you take?

thanx for help!

Got my MSI setup back today and updated bios to 1.A. That forced me to do all bios settings again and doing that I remembered what it was that made usb wake up possible. Goto power management setup>wake up event setup. Select wake up event by bios, and there You have it. Resume from S3 by usb device option :) While in bios goto Cell menu too, enable Intel EIST and Intel C-State tech options and You just got yourself speedstepping and c-states working out of the box.

Thx for the tips...
What do you use to update the bios (i have no floppy on this pc)?
I tried with the current bios to enable the C-State but it wont boot... i will try later with the latest bios...

PS: maybe the update in the CPU microcode would help since i use intels E5200

This is pretty much as basic as can be, this board just doesn't need lot of fixes. Even ICH10 works out of the box, I mean without dsdt fix or ioahciblockstorageinjector to fix orange HD icons.

Where did you get the hd4850 EFI string?

got the string from here, Second Method:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181405

make sure to use EFI 10.4 W/OUT GraphicsEnabler ...i.e....GraphicsEnabler=No.
add device ID to ATI4800controller.kext and ATIRadeonX2000.kext.

so now i have Graphics and sound working with patched AppleHDA.kext.
however, popping noise when sound comes out of sleep.
and System cant wake from sleep...just freezes.
maybe a patched DSDT.aml will fix both of these issues.
other than that, my p43-neo3-f is finally fully running!

It's great to hear that MSI P43 Neo supports everything OTB, especially c_states and p_states, so speedstepping works vanilla out of the box. Can you guys confirm the same with MSI X58 platinum? The owner mentioned that everything works, does it include the speed step?

This P43-Neo is real funny, with this I can boot to Win7 using Chameleon and sleep still works, no way to do that on my Gigabyte board.

May i ask u what CPU are u using with the msi p43 Neo?

What dsdt did you use, not the one from Leopard thread I hope, that is for Neo-F. I am using E7400 with MSI board. For compiling I use a recent version of IaslMe. This is the dsdt that I use on my P43 Neo.

so basicly, restore your Snow Leopard disc or DMG to a 8gb flash drive.

install Chameleon, and change the boot file to the Netkas 10.4 EFI file. add any nessacary kexts. install.

The P45 Neo3-F mobo also works using the same kexts as this one. Only difference is you need to add USBBusFix=Yes to your boot flags for the USB to work properly. Just thought I'd share since I know the P45 Neo3-F doesn't have much info out there nor many successful installs of Leopard. I was surprised at how well Snow Leopard took to it.

I am looking into this, I broke my 10.6 install with the 10.6.2 update. I think that I saw a tool here on infinitemac that would restore it to a flash drive or HDD. I was also looking into using BootThink, install it on the Flash drive and then try to boot off of that. maybe convert the DMG to an ISO and drop the files on the drive with bootthink. I am not sure if this will work or not, but this would probably be a new discussion.
