Hey,
I installed 10.5.2 Rev 1. just fine on my Dell Inspiron 1501, it takes a while to boot up to it though, almost acts like it freezes. But i have no audio, maybe i forgot a kext? I am just unsure as to which one i need. As for my graphics, i cannot choose a different resolution, the only one available is 1024x768.
Chipset
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Northbridge ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) rev. 10
Southbridge ATI SB600 rev. 00
Memory Type DDR2
Memory Size 2048 MBytes
Channels Dual
Memory Frequency 249.4 MHz (CPU/8)
CAS# 4.0
RAS# to CAS# 4
RAS# Precharge 4
Cycle Time (tRAS) 12
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 17
Command Rate 1T
Also is there anyway to increase my Xbench score? It came out to a 66.7, Its pretty bad.

I had came across that, but not sure if those steps can be used in 10.5.2, since that guide is for Tiger.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You wont get help with a graphics card unless you tell people what it is!
You cant expect people to look up Dell Inspiron 1501 to help you.

Excuse my ignorance, It is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150.
When i booted with -v, it hung at
Configid[44]: InterfaceNumber: Timed out for waiting for IOKit to Quiesce
for like 5 minutes.

it looks like your sound card is supported, you need sigmatel 9220.pkg
Unfortunatly I don't have a link for it perhaps someone else on here could tell you where to aquire it.

Well booting with -x (Safe mood) Helped the boot time greatly, But i tried searching for the Sigmatel 9220.pkg, i had found it but they removed it from the server or something..
If anyone has that package and is willing to upload to this server so everyone can have it that would be nice :)
But again, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150, is there a fix for it somewhere?

Thanks a lot eddie11c. Now to just fix my graphics. :|
Ok, i installed the .pkg, rebooted, Still no sound.. any help?
I tried installing it again and still no luck :/
Also, is there a way to change the resolution manually? My laptop is widescreen, and its distorting the current resolution, making everything blurry..

Sorry for the triple postings, i managed to install an audio kext with Apple HDA, using the Sigmatel 9200 driver. My sound is working, but it is coming out very choppy. Would that mean for a different driver?

I think that you'll find your graphics card is unsupported, but you may be able to force a resolution by putting graphics mode into com.apple.Boot.plist.
As for your audio, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think your best bet would be AppleAzaliaAudio.kext in which you will probably have to find out and insert your device id.
Failing that you could try teruga's patcher which you'll find on insanelymac and a linux dump file, but not sure if it works for 880.

-forcing a resolution, how do i begin that? Also, the appleAzaliaAudio.kext is found where? how do i find device ID's and whats teruga's and 880?

add this to com.apple.Boot.plist
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1680x1050x32</string>
Put it below
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string></string>
PUT IT HERE
file is located in yourharddrive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
use textmate to alter it or you will have to restore permissions

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext
which disk did you use to install it may be on it perhaps even installed
check in yourharddisk/System/Library/Extensions

Lanxxx,
Thanks, quick questions: How would i get textmate on to the computer? No internet connection, i dont have an USB flash drive either? and would the free trial version of textmate do the job?
good explanation of force resolution concept though!
I used the OS X Zeph 10.5.2 r2 install disk. I'll have to check my //System/Library/Extensions tonight to see if i find AppleAzaliaAudio.kext. What if i do? What if i dont?
Any ideas on how to get the onboard Lan or wireless card ( GIGABYTE GN-WP01GS IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Adapter) working? Anyone know??
Thanks Lanxxx

textmate is included in rev1 I don't know if it is in rev2 but check applications, if not then check the bay?
Oh and my name's ian by the way lol Ianxxx not Lan. Don't worry your the second to make that mistake, have to call my sell something else.
If not use text edit and then repair permissions
sudo chown -R 0:0 thefile
sudo chmod -R 755 thefile
if you can't finad Azalia google it or look on insanelymac or some nice person here might direct you to a copy.
