Hello,

I am new here and this is my first build. I went off of Adam Pash's build on Lifehacker, pretty much exactly the same. The Realtek 8169 is not being recognized by the system and I don't see any buttons to add the driver.

I have been searching around and it seems that the 8169 driver is native to the OS. I haven't found a kext for it anywhere, so I am assuming it is something easy that I am not doing.

Thanks for your help.

Matt

not too sure if you figured it out or not but I found this kext while trying to troubleshoot my machine.

In Mobo Rev 2.0 there is no Realtek anymore. They changed the NIC to Atheros AR8131 which is not supported by OSX anyway. (AFAIK).
Look at page 7 of printed user's manual.

Try a cheap ad-on card with supported chip.

I personaly gave up and make use of a D-LINK DWA-547 (WLAN).

Need to patch ID in IONetworkingFamily.kext. (OSX 10.6)
