Possible issue??

I don't know if this is a possible issue, but it could be, for the second time today I get a message on my computer that says your computer must reboot, hold down the power button.... could this be an issue?

It doesn't say anything meaningful in the system log as well

yeah, it happened again last night, I left it on because I was downloading something in azureus and I woke up this morning and same "need to restart issue". Did you install one of the ToH kernels when installing the os?

I had this happened couples times everyday. It usually happenes when I'm downloading files in Firefox or Transmission. I installed 9.2.0 toh. There's also one time when I drag a file to trash. Any idea how to solve this problem?

Would I be correct in thinking you are all using the nforce lan?

nforce lan here... i need to get a hold of a realtek nic...to see if there is a difference...
Or i could try the computer with the NIC turned off in bios.

Yes I use the nforce lan. I'm new in this and still learning and looking for information. Can anyone please point out what is the problem with nforce lab?

I gave up eventually on nforce lan, although it has greatly improved I still occasionally had issues I'd go for realtek 8169.
Thats what I did, the only card I could find gauranteed to work with osx £7 ebay

Is this problem (the whole system freezes with a message says you must manually power off the computer and reboot) the same as the "Lan-Freeze issue" mentioned in http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues ??

I suppose the first solution using the cpus=1 option is for dual-core cpus? My AMD cpu has only one core. I don't know if this would help or not. Will give it a try.

The second solution as lanxxx said is not to use the onboard nforce lan port. I guess I can get a stand alone ethernet card (Marvell Yukon or realtek 8169) and give this a try, or according to other posts I can find, just use wireless.

i have the same gray screen saying "you need to restart your computer" i am on a nforce 570 board but i disabled both onboard lans in my bios and i am using a realtek.
anyone have any ideas?

I had the same issue from time to time (Need to restart your computer). So I just unplugged cable from onboard LAN and plugged it into some ethernet card that was always in my computer. The issue didn't repeat. I didn't change anything in BIOS.
