I tried to install 10.5.2 earlier today, but I got into problems straight away..
The problem is that the install takes HOURS, and then when theres about 6-3 minutes left, the "freeze-bug" appears.. So I tried the same method as with 10.5.1, I reinstalled with the same options selected in the "Customize" menu, but then the installer hangs on "3 minutes remaining" and then the installer window disappears and the computer just shuts itself off. What can I do to fix this? Or can it even be fixed at all?

My computers specifications:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4800+
GFX: ATi Radeon HD3870 (Powercolor)
RAM: Kingston, 1Gb
MB: MSI K9A2 CF, Chipsets: AMD 790X and ATi SB600
HDD: 120Gb (IDE) Western Digital

I'm having the same problem. The furthest ive got the installer to go is at 2 mins left a screen comes up saying osx cannot be installed and a list of shutdown options. The last line on the installer log at this point says;-
loalhostviewer(1956)folder manager is being asked to create a folder (asav) while running as uid0
Anyone got any ideas?

spec-
AMD athlon 3400+
mobo- asus k8s-mx
chipset sis 760gx
soundcard creative sblive external
graphics geforce 6600gt

Do you have a SB600 southbridge as well?

You know, I too have experienced that same error log message! Strange..

hey simba.
my full chipset is sis 760gx and sis 965l. Had to adjust my rig quite a bit to get this far.currntly the dvd and hdd are on the same ribbon. and th lan and sata controllers are disbled in bios. still none of this really helps as I dont have a baldies what the installer message means.
good luck.

Hi! I have solution for this problem. I read abuot that maybe 1month ago. Simply and accurate.

Boot your Leopard with -s (single mode)

when system start properly and coursor flashing type:

type:
/sbin/fsck -fy (hit enter)
/sbin/mount -uw / (hit enter, type exactly the same with "/" at the end)

type:
passwd root (hit enter)
type your new password (hit enter)
retype your new password (hit enter)

Leopard had know about that change so type:

touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone (hit eneter, don't forget "." before Apple)

type:
reboot

Well done, now you are able to login to leopard on root account. Of course you can add some account after login.

Best Regards.

I'm sorry, but this probably isn't the right thing to do.. We have problem installing the OS, and if we cannot install it how are we supposed to be able to log in? :S Thx anyways m8

anybody here who fixed that "freeze-bug"? I found out that i had just to reboot after such a "unfinished install" and then leopard starts. But i am not sure if install is ok in that way. Would be a better feeling if i could go through install without freeze...

Hi - Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone here fixed the 'Folder Manager' problem. Thanks!

are you referring to the issue of an incomplete install on this board? you should give LawlessPPC's 10.5.4 distro a try as it has better support for the Motherboard and will allow you to finish.
