If anyone can please help me with this i am at a total block here.. Here's my problem...

Ok, first i followed step by step tut on "Install Snow Leopard 10.6 on AMD PC Hackintosh"

Then the chameleon rc3 bootloader loads up and i hit enter on the "Snow" icon. After that it loads to the apple screen and the spinning circle is loading. about 50 sec. later a circle with a slash appears right above the apple logo. I am lost. I have no idea what i need to do in order to fix this so i can run snow leopard!!! I set my bios up correct from what i read. Right now i have leopard and xp on sata hdd and ide hdd trying to run snow leopard with sata dvd drive. Heres my specs:

mobo: m2n-sli deluxe

chip: athlon 64 x2 4800+

vcard: xfx 8800gt 512mb

mem: 2gigs corsair xms2

sound: ADI AD1988B

lan: Marvell 88E1116

let me know if i need to give out more info.. thanks!!

when cham rc3 loads, hit enter immediately to stop countdown, and type
-v
and then hit enter again to load snow. tell us what the error is, cause right now it's pretty vague

There is nothing on the screen thats point out whats wrong with it. It just has this pic---------> http://www.majotphotography.com/TestingGrounds/Leopard.5/DSC_4170.JPG

this is a sample off google pics not on my pc..

Unless if i wait for a while and something might show up because the circle thing still spins...

one more thing. In order for me to reboot and get back to xp, 10.5.6 leopard, etc.. I have to reset my board by taking out the battery.. lol I'm not sure whats going on.. This is only when i reboot after i get that error from the pic i last posted.

Ok I have pics of the error when i go to -v mode. first 2 pics are the top half and bottom half of my errors and the 3rd pic is when i have to clear the cmos.

top: http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6883/img0556s.jpg

bottom: http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1906/img0555fo.jpg

after clearing cmos: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1742/img0557x.jpg (im not sure if this will help with anything..)

so i guess its a "still waiting for root device error"

"Still waiting for root device" is your problem.

Osx isn't able to see any hard drive, which is why it's not booting, why it is showing the circle with a line through it.

first guess is you don't have a applenforceata.kext installed (since you have an nforce motherboard). put it in /System/Extensions/Library
right?

mhobsmac

I think that might be the prob. i'll take a look when i get home but im sure i dont have that in there. i thought you add all the kext in extra/extensions?

mhobsmac
11-09-2009, 11:29 PM
ok i put the AppleNForceATA.kext in the /System/Extensions folder and when i reboot and load up snow this is what i get:

(-v mode)
http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/338/img0559gr.jpg

(i just pressed enter)

So it's some sort of panic....

no i am using the mach_kernel.test7 do i need to use that kernel in the link. if so is there any special install instructions like changing the name or the apple.boot.plist file?

mhobsmac
11-10-2009, 03:15 AM
ok This is what i did..
Copied the mach_kernel into /
renamed it mach_kernel.voodoo
changed the apple.boot.plist to mach_kernel.voodoo
changed smbios to mach_kernel.voodoo
then booted using mach_kernel.voodoo

this is what i got....

should i use osx tools to install the kernel?

xXrkidXx
11-10-2009, 03:27 AM
didju install the kernel or didju just drag? if you still have the origanal kernel in the root try booting with that. if you can get it running then remove the mach_kernel that you placed there... change ur current mach_kernel to mach_kernel.voodoo then open up OSx86 Tools or Kext Help b7 and install the new kernel. then try rebooting.

I deleted what was on the Snow drive and copied and paste the new mach_kernel

xXrkidXx

try removing openhaltrestart and any other custom kexts that aren't absolutely necessary to just boot, and see what happens. you have alot of errors in there that I'm not familiar with

what are all the custom kexts you are using, specifically? and where did you get them?

mhobsmac
11-16-2009, 02:04 AM
Ok i will try that. Do they ave any distros like ipc 10.5.6 for anow leopard because when i installed 10.5.6 and chose all my drivers i had no problems installing it.. Im still messin around trying to get snow leopard to work:( lol

mhobsmac
11-19-2009, 07:00 PM
I still been messin around with this and still no luck.i removed the openhaltrestart.kext from Extra/Extensions and that got rid of the problem when i typed in -v. Now I still get the "Failed to load extensions com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform." (it's in yellow)

I'm so lost and no have no idea what i need to do.... any help?

mhobsmac
11-20-2009, 02:06 PM
No, I don't have a dsdt.aml file. Were can I get one? Do i need one specifically for my setup? and how i remake it? and i have the dsdt patch program.

Got a new panic..

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/2605/16161381.png

I reinstalled 10.6 and this time i got the dsdt.aml file from the patch and edited it. I might need to do more editing thou, but all i did so far is edit the length to 02 and it was 04 before. and now i get this panic.

when i load without any flags it goes right to the panic.

does anyone think i can use snow leopard universal v3.5. Would that work better for me. Or if it makes a difference should i try the usb install...

mhobsmac
11-30-2009, 04:05 AM
ok for some odd reason i got snow to work....lol i did a fresh install and i noticed my smbios.plist need to be SMBios.plist no idea why but i guess that fixed the install. But my internet(snow isnt even finding a ethernet port) and audio isnt working... and i get panics also. when i reboot i cant even boot back into the bios the only way is to take my battery out for a few seconds and put it back and and it boots right up and it says cmos checksum or something like that... oh yea i didnt use that kernel you gave me spalek83 i used .test7 kernel and it worked.
do you think i should try the voodoo kernel you gave me? would i get better results?
