just had to try the new update :)
all i did was download the file from apple, backed up my kernel, ran the installer, and before the reboot i replaced the new kernel with my old one from the backup.
i did not installed the old system.kext ( i did a backup anyway), and it seems i have no trouble using the 10.2 system.kext with qoops kernel (usb and everything works just fine - did not try the shutdown yet).

Well done brave warrior !!

Keep us updated. But what do you mean by "did not install old system.kext" ? Do you mean System/Library/Extensions folder?

I suppose if apple changes anything, they will also update caches in the process before reboot. If so, that is good news if you suffered no kernel panics.. (i guess)

yes, i mean the S/L/E folder. on leopard, if the kernel version and system.kext version were diferent, usb would not work on my system. now it seems that on snow, usb works ok with 10.0 kernel and 10.2 system.kext.
