USB Drives

I intstalled os x with iPC and I chose the usb driver, but it doesn't seem to work, cause my plugged in usb drives don't work, they show up in dist utility but, they don't mount. So I can't use my external hard drvie and the usb sticks.

So am I missing something or do I need some other kexts or drivers?
