Hi folks,

In the past i've booted successfully using kaloway disk after about 22 attempts but always messed it up before making a ghost image to reinstall from. I stupidly updated software or critical updates which made it unstable and unbootable in most cases. I found the constant formatting of the HD to journaled mac format to be to time consuing so gave up until i got a more suitable release.

I have now been trying repeatdly to install iDeneb ... on my computer with some success but can't get it to boot past the grey apple logo screen so i've decided to join this absolutely great forum with the hopes of success.

my hardware is as follows,

I have an ati sapphire noted as radeon x1650pro card with device ID 0x71c6 apparently

motherboard VN800/P4m800CE/Pro host bridge

Intel Pentium d CPU (2 cores @ 3.4ghz)

CPU features are FPU VME DE PSE TXC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOVPAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE3 SS HTT TM EST

Boot Rom Version is 080012 American megatrends inc

Memory is 2gb bus = 800mhz

AC97 controller for sound

Rhine-II

Sata Raid controller

I have never noted these things down so will prob give myself some good reference to search for things that might help but can anyone please let me know if they have a similar set up and which version (ideneb, kaloway, iPC, iAtkos) of osx86 would suit my configuration.
I must note that I dual boot with windows 7 at the moment but that has gone pearshaped also because i can't boot back into it.... doesn't find the win installation using the repair disk but thats another story:( . i'm mac'n it for the next while :)

I thank you all in advance and hope this is the right section to post in.

I'm determined to get mac installed if it takes me another 30 times so lets hope someone can help :)

Hi,

Sorry, this isn't a bump its an update so i've decided to ditch that release (most likely because of lack of kexts/drivers in the distro) go with IPC 10.5.6

I've had a few goes at installing IPC 10.5.6 and again installs ok in about 80% of cases but still get stuck with circle with line through it for all... kernel panic?
the options I chose initially that got it to install but then not boot were:

voodoo 9.5 with seatbelt patch
ATI x1000 series drivers, specifically the 0x71c6,
agpGart 2.7.1
CHIPSET- the 'sis/via/marvell/SB one........... on this install attempt it wouldnt' install properly though which made me wonder because i have the SIS/VIA chipset so possibly something else conflicting with install.
Audio= AC97
ethernet wired = VIA Rhine
May have chosen USB support or variation of but dropped after one of the non successful installs, same with software.
------------
now the thing that i'm utterly confused on is whether i actuallly need the usb patchs, SMBIOS (is recking my head ) along with DSDT. Sorry for the long winded topic but hoping someone can clear things up for me before i corrupt something badly. :S
Plans for tonight =

voodoo 9.2 with sleep kernal - hear that has worked for my chipset on HCL somewhere
ATI x1000 series drivers, specifically the 0x71c6,
CHIPSET- the 'sis/via/marvell/SB one
AC97,
VIA Rhine................................
will let you know if goes ok but in the meantime can anyone assist with the SMbios thing and dsdts?
Thanks a mill
