After some troubels I finaly managed to install retail 10.6. I used DSDT patcher and Chameleon 2RC3. I've put gfx hex (made by OSx86 tools) in com.apple.Boot.plist

1. After next boot I've tryed to change resolution in Display settings (offered me all resolutions) but after resolution change I get blue screen. After restart allso blue screen (I have to boot with -x to boot with 1024x768. I need 1280x1024x32@75Hz) Does OSX put resolution values in some file??

2. What .kext to use for sound?

3. How to remove CMOS reset after every boot?

configuration:
MBO: GA P35-DS3R
GFX: nVidia 8500GT 512
2 SATA HDD
IDE DVD RW DL
4GB RAM

You can fix the cmos reset bug either by dsdt or by kext
kext available here
http://www.kexts.com/cat/last.html
dsdt explanation here
http://netkas.org/?p=114

Also you don't need dsmos and fakesmc delete dsmos
I would also delete Alcinject if I were you
As to audio you have legacyHDA which if it is the right one you need either another kext "enabler" or again to edit your dsdt

If your stuck with dsdt I'll help you

Tx for replay. I'll try edit DSDT and I'll remove ALCinject and dsmos.

What about gfx card? Why do I get blue screen after resolution change?

Not really sure to be honest, You could try removing efi string and try either chameleon graphicsenabler in com.apple.boot.plist or dsdt method.
I can point you to threads to enable audio and graphics via dsdt if you can't find them.

I have put code for 8500GT in DSDT & remove dsmos.kext but if dsmos is not in extensions folder boot stops after "waiting for dsmos"

For the moment you could remove fakesmc and keep dsmos while you check out other things as they are both basically supposed to do the same job, but I'm guessing that you don't have an smbios.plist in your extra folder.

Heres my list of files in /extra
com.apple.Boot.plist
DSDT.aml
smbios.plist

Extensions
fakesmc.kext
LegacyHDA.kext
OpenHaltRestart.kext
PlatformUUID.kext

You shouldn't need anything else provided your graphics, audio, lan are in DSDT

I got audio & CMOS reset working, but I still dont have QE/CI. I followed tutorial on this forum but nothing works

i allso have strange problem with WG111v3 USB WiFi. After install Realtek client util shows that is connected to router, but Network prefs cant get IP from DHCP. It got self asigned IP. If I put manual adresses it shows connected in Network prefs but Safari cannt connect to internet (in leo everything is working OK)

Not sure about the wifi problem but if you send me your dsdt I'll have a look and see if the graphics is okay. When you say you don't have QE/CI enabled how are you testing?

Try that don't know if it will make any difference but worth a try

Just a thought though, you do know that snow doesn't give details of QE/CI in system profiler, you have to test it using something that uses open gl, I believe frontrow is one such app if it runs you have QE otherwise I believe it crashes, or running xbench is probably a good idea

Or you can have a look at my dsdt it's not my work it's based on a mac pro and I've added a couple of things, as far as I can tell everything works including things like smbus, speedstep etc.
If you used it you would have to alter graphics and audio, but most importantly the cpu speeds for speedstep.

As for your wifi try reading these two threads

I'm back again. After lot of trouble I reinstalled Snow I have fixed issue with blue screen after resolution change (using VGA port, not DVI with VGA adapter - HD2600XT olnly works like that) and audio is workong.

Now I have new problems. My WiFi is still not workong properly, and I can not take screenshot (shift+cmd+3 or 4) I hear sound but there isn't any pict on my desktop. Eaven if I use Grub I get blank (white) screenshot.

What .kext to use that my IDE devices work? I have DVD DL RW and it is not workong.

Jmicron for ide but I don't use it, so can't really tell you more than that.

Nvidia 9600GT

I have Leopard running 10.5.8 without any problems. I installed Snow Leopard to External USB. It works in 32bit but get the error when I load in 64bit.

Now I would like to shoot myselfe. I tryed to update to 10.6.2 with combo update and that broke my SL. I tryed everything I know but I cant boot it. Here is my screenshot. Maybe someone knows solution
http://www.imagesforme.com/upload/4ea1cd96.jpg
After that last line there is no HDD activity and boot stops.

Ianxxx

Do you have sleepenabler.kext installed, if so you need to remove it and get the updated version for 10.6.2

catevs

That is the problem I never had it instalded. I'm so pissed of myselfe for breaking workong 10.6.0 (except screen capture). Like Wile E. Coyote said: "Back to the drawing board"

I'll install 10.6.0 again and leave it at that.

You really shouldn't have any problems running 10.6.2 on that mobo with nvidia graphics.

I have similar system ga-p35-ds3l nvidia 8800gs

Everything is spot on.

It took a while but now I'm down to minimal extra kexts and a system that software update doesn't break

I did notice that you had macFuse installed, it's not needed you can enable read/write support for ntfs in snow

I didnt install MacFUSE (it must came with vanilla 10.6. or transfer old settings from 10.5.8). Could You send me all kext that You have in Extra folder so I can try to boot 10.6.2?

I tryed to boot with -s and remoove all MacFUSE (renamed it to .old) but MacFUSE allways shows at boot screen

Look here
www.osx-stuff.talktalk.net/sl.zip

If you use your own DSDT you will also need nullcpupowermangment.kext, and also jmicron as I don't use ide

Look here

Let me know how you get on.

Yes I use custom dsdt with gfx, audio & CMOS reset fix. TX for .kexts I'll try them and give feedback

TY for sharing kexts I managed to install (again :) ) retail and installed 10.6.2 combo update. I'm running in 32bit mode so my USB WiFi can work. I still need to find working Jmicron and HDA (tryed patching dsds & AppleHDA.kext but it does not help)

on every install I have problem with screen capture. This is what I get.
http://www.imagesforme.com/upload/a8ecede7.jpg
Maybe it is problem with graphic drivers?

I put a jmicron kext here for you

www.osx-stuff.talktalk.net/JMicronATA.kext.zip

didn't it work?

As for audio your board will definatly work with dsdt patch and legacy hda, I'm guessing you've got the patch right so maybe the kext is no good, just google alc889 osx86

www.osx-stuff.talktalk.net/JMicronATA.kext.zip

Sorry for late reply. No it does not work it gives me kernel panic. I'll try to find some other JmicronATA.

Maybe I should delete JMicronATA.kext in /S/L/E??

To be honest although its possible to get ata working on these boards I think the best option is to go all sata, "a lot less problomatic"

I will remove 20GB HDD but I have DVD RW that is IDE. Problem is that I had working ATA devices, but I can not remember wich one kext I used. I've downloaded 10

Try this one, I'm not sure but I think some of them don't work with 10.6.2

I dont know if I'm stupid or what?? I downloaded alot kexts from internet and they didnt work or give me kernel panic. But i finaly found solution. I just copied JMicron.kext from 10.5.8 to my S/L/E folder and it is working. Now finaly I have full working 10.6.2
