HI guys, this is my first post in this forum. I installed IATKOS v7 on my computer few months ago, updated it to 10.5.8, everything was working fine, but all of a sudden ethernet stopped working. Here is the spec of my computer and the drivers that I used to get everything working fine originally.
Intel Core I7 920 2.67 GHZ = Speedstep and cpu throttle drivers not installed
Intel DX58SO MOBO= VoodoHDA for Sound works fine, Intel Gbit driver(82566 series)for Ethernet which worked fine untill day before yesterday.
1 TB sata configured as AHCI(Partiotioned as 2*500GB)= Works superb with Intel AHCI driver, aslo NTFS drivers installed.
4 GB DDR3 1067 Mhz
NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GT 1 GB = Worked with NVKush and NVDarwin both installed.
Problem Description.
After installing the Intel Gbit driver for my onboard ethernet(82567), it worked untill i tried installing and Running Parallels 5, I got a kernel panic message and eventually had to restart the computer. After it booted up, I got a pop up saying " Do you want to allow incoming connection from istat monitor" (istat monitor is a software used to monitor network connections, cpu, memory, etc), to which I responded as "Don't Allow". Since then Internet stoppped working.
Steps Already tried.
Information on Network Preferences shows that there is no ethernet present so tried reinstalling the same driver multiple times, deleted "networkinterfaces.plist" and "networkidentifier.plist", disabled and enabled LAN from BIOS, Reset BIOS, updated BIOS, Restored MAC to the first day when everything was working using image restore from Disk Utility, reinstalled IATKOS V7 the similar way I did before and with diff combinations multiple times by formatting the 1st partition completely, but in VAIN. So finally installed Vista Ultimate by creating a Third partition and did setup a dual boot through Chameloen V2. The ethernet works perfectly fine in Vista, infact I ran couple of diagnostic tests on ethernet hardware, cable, router and all tests passed, confirming that the ethernet hardware is perfectly fine.
Results.
WELL, NOTHING WORKED..!, breaking my head for the past 72 hours(and wasted 6 packets of cigarettes) trying to get it work.
Additional Info.
Currently the status is there is no Ethernet option present under "Network Preferences", and in "Network Utility" under "Utilities" there is no MAC Adress for Ethernet. In "Terminal", the command "IFCONFIG" shows absence of "en0" which is supposed to be the onboard ethernet.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
Thanks...

After spending a lot of time by taking day offs from work, I finally figured that there were two settings on my BIOS screen which disables MAC to power up the ethernet.
1.) Hyperthreading
2.) Intel VT

Disabling both actually worked and now I'm able to go online, however, this wasn't the case before, ethernet powered up even with hyperthreading ON and VT ON on my first install. So will do a research on that as well, but need to show my face at work. Bye
