Blue Screen of Annoiance

Hey, I just installed 10.6(ihackintosh's tutorial, and then update to 10.6.2) and I got the same problem that I got under 10.5.7, EVERY time I change my resolution everything goes to hell, the scree turns blue and stays that way, just after I press the reboot button I see for a second the desktop(at 1920x1080) and then it turns off.

I deleted the file in Library/Preferences/ xxx.windowsserver.xxx and modified the resolution in which I pasted the EFI code, nothing helps, what else do I need to reset???

Without having to reinstall everyting again, the past two days I m reading forums....

WEIRD, last moment news, that blue screen, If I leave it long enough the screen will go to standby, when I come back from standby everything is visible and working. WTH?

if your gfx card has two sockets try using the other one that fixed a similar problem for me

Is this the only solution?

my GTS250 is a huge graphic card, I don't think I have the place to move it around my midi tower. There must be a place where hardware cofig is saved that can be deleted .... :|

I (and many others) have this issue. Until you find a fix, try this workaround:

1, Open System Preferences.

2. Select "Screensaver" button above.

3. Select "Hot Corners" button.

4. In "Active Screen Corners" drop-down click the blue end of the bar corresponding to the corner of your choice and select "Sleep Display" and click OK.

5. Exit Preferences pane you are in.

Now when you boot to the blue screen just move your pointer to that corner and presto, your display will sleep; the next mouse movement will wake it up to...

a complete desktop display :)

Nice to see other people tlking about this, i have been trying to work this out for sometime, i need to jsut turn my screen off then on again and everything is fine. Thanks for the tips other people have posted.

do you mean, 2 DVI Ports or are you talking about the PCI-E x16 ports?

I made a keyboard shortcut (automator) for putting the monitor to sleep, sadly it does not put it to sleep when the screen is green/black

Found a fix for me, i changed DVI ports that montior connects to and rebooted, and that worked have had no more issues! also i reran the permission fix to fix them and they may have help also.

I have had this with a few machines and using the other output has always worked for me, using a DVI to VGA converter if necessary.

Any one have any recommendations though for someone using HDMI? I get the blue screen upon first (cold) boot but if I hit reset, it works every time thereafter (as long as power is running).
