Hey I am looking to install osx86 on a custum PC built from spare parts, The base of the system is an old Dell Demension 8250, Is there any confirmed working Leopard installations with this computer?

Welcome to InfiniteMac! :)

Please provide us with some specifications about your system (CPU, Motherboard, Graphics & Model Number if applicable). Adding more specific information allows us to respond quickly with more precise answers. Chipset, LAN, Audio & If your Graphics are integrated or not, are excellent additions.

You can also place this information in your "Signature". It will then appear on every post you make. How to edit your signature: http://www.infinitemac.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_signatures_av atars

That said, you will want to do a little research before you get your hands dirty. Finding your motherboard's Chipsets will better aid you in finding if your system is compatible followed by your graphics chipset.

Using this forums search function with the name of your chipset or using google via its site specific search or by using terms like "Intel 865P OSX86" should yield some more information.

I have done much research, The only thing that showed up was an old tuturial on how to install jas 10.4.8 on the dell 8250. I would like to get Leopard on this machine but Tiger will do.

What I mean is that you should not be looking for information regarding the model number of the computer. The real issues are with the actual hardware inside. So you would want to be researched that computer's chipsets rather than model number. There are probably hundreds of different computer "models" which use the same chipset.

Searching "Dell 8250" in google gives me the specs page on the first hit.

Here are the important specs
CPU Pentium 4

Chipsets:
Northbridge - Intel 850e
Southbridge - Intel 82801BA (ICH2)

Audio - AD1981a AC97

Graphics - AGP (you will need to figure out which card you are using)

Now I am not too familiar with the Intel 850e/ICH2 chipsets But this is a start. The processor meets the requirements and it looks like you may have a shot. Before I would get too far into it I would research your graphics card. You may be able to get default graphics but without Quartz Extreme & Core Image (qe/ci) supported the machine isnt going to be able to run certain programs among other things.

If you are going to give it a shot and are using some prepatched version of OSX you will want to choose Intel chipset looking for references to 850e and ICH2. Id go into the BIOS and disable hyper-threading, plug and play OS & anything else that you do not plan on using. Familiarize yourself with the various boot-flags. Id keep a record on a sheet of paper for all your attempts including install settings, boot flags used & write down where it hangs during the boot problem. Last but not least if you are able to make it into the OSX gui the first thing you should do is create a backup.
