I've been looking round on the internet for some sort of driver, I've been led to some sites with ZyDAS drivers, installed those but to no avail.
I cracked my adapter open and it had an Atheros chipset, model number AR2524-AQ1C
any help is greatly appreciated.

It's a usb based wireless device is that correct? Their is another usb based wireless card that uses the Altheros AR2524-AQ1C Chip.

According to one of the comments this device works under osx86. Maybe you should try looking for drivers for this wireless adapter.

Yeah, it is USB based.
but if they use the same chipset and that one is known to work on OS X then shouldn't they both work?

I would think so. Thats why I'm saying look for drivers for the known working one, those drivers might work for you. Also what are the device and vendor id's for your wireless adapter?
Edit: I found a driver for the working device.

Let me know if it works or not.

Tried the driver, I'm not sure if it just automatically suppose to work or it installs some utility similar to the ZyDAS adapters.
But, I don't think it worked as I cant connect.
I'll try to find those device IDs

USB\VID_0586&PID_3419&REV_4810
USB\VID_0586&PID_3419
Those are the device IDs, I got them in windows through the device manager.
