Help me please!

I have been getting kernel panic since I started using ethernet instead of wifi.
From my limited knowledge I can see IOPCIFamily and IONetworkingFamily and a mention of FORCEDETH.

Forcedeth is what I use for my ethernet so I can only assume this is the cause.

Is there any other kexts I can use or a patch?

TIA

Have you given any other kexts a try? How about nForceLAN.kext Version 0.64.3 posted by Eno http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=125569&start=100

I have been using it and have been pretty happy. If you have an EFI partition or /Extra based install you will need the vanilla IONetworkingFamily.kext in Extra.

Also I noticed you have a rather dated kernel. You might also want to try updating to the voodoo kernel or one based on voodoo. Keep in mind that when upgrading kernels you will want to make sure you have matching versions of System.kext and Seatbelt.kext

What other issues have you had with your current install?

Thanks for the reply, lanceomni.

I will give nForceLAN.kext a go. I have tried other kernels but haven't had much success.

I used to get kernel panics when I had 4GB of RAM but now that is fixed with slashacks fix. Other than that nothing major.

nForceLAN.kext is working now in place of Forcedeth. However when using IONetworkingFamily.kext in Extra I was told the network cable is unplugged. Removed this and currently writing this post from the hackintosh.

Thanks!!
