Hey everyone, not sure if i'm posting this in the right area, but anyway i am having a problem with my hackintosh, i was able to install Ideneb v1.4 on this setup:
AMD Phenom x4 Quad core 1.8GHZ shows in sys profiler
4GB DDR2 800MHZ shows correct speed too
SATA 640GB OSX 10.5.6, IDE 160GB WINDOWS 7
ALC888 driver works, nvidia geforce 9400gt 512mb works with EFI string: nvidia geforce 8800gts g92 driver. ethernet does not work but i have ordered a USB ethernet device. Everything pretty much works as far as hardware but not the internet yet.
But the problem is that when i try to install the sims 3 from an iso i made to keep my disc clean and so friends could use it. i'm able to mount the disc and start the install but while its installing it gets to about 150 of 2** files and gives me a kernel panic, i dont have a good enough camera to take a picture of it, all i have is my Cell phone. i have not got a kernel panic from any other install so far i have installed a few small programs i cant remember the names but i have installed iwork but that wouldnt install at first it would freeze and i would have to force quit it but after three tries it installed and works great i havent installed ilife cause the disc is with a friend at the moment. but can someone please help me i put this on another forum but no replies so all help will be much appreciated! sorry for the length of this wanted to give the details as much as possible.

thanks for the reply! when i get it a kernel panic it normally has something to do with my memory or something about CPU 0 i noticed. Today i was trying to encode a video with a program i found on the internet, the file encoded fully but as soon as the the program tried to do something it gave me a kernel panic again and that's when i saw it said something about my memory, i took pictures with my cell i just dont know how to get them on the computer, its a new phone my old phone i could by pulling the SD card out. But because i wasn't getting any reply's i decided to try other kernels and install options all of the alternative kernels didnt work, so i reformatted my hard drive again and did what i did to install it the first time, as soon as i would start it i would get a kernel panic about the Processor again, but i did notice before i tried all this that my memory was saying in the mac profile that my memory was ddr 400mhz when my memory is ddr2 800mhz and it did say it before all the right stuff. I'm so close to selling my PC and getting an actual mac even if it is a mac mini. using os x for the short time i did i really like it, its just i dont agree with how expensive apple products are, they work good such as i had a 5 yr old ipod, worked great till i tried to use it as an external hard drive and transfer large files between my computers, stupid but it worked till the computer reformatted the ipod to ntfs and not fat and then it wasn't even readable by the computer! off topic i know! sorry again for the length!

You generally want to choose the bare minimum of options when you install from these prepatched distros. You can than address each problem one by one from the comfort of OSX.

Try to look up your computer's specifications and post your motherboard model number and chipset. You can also place this information in your "Signature". It will then appear on every post you make. Please keep your signatures reasonably sized. We do not want to see full page specs. Edit your signature here: http://www.infinitemac.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_signatures_av atars

Get a sheet of paper and write down exactly the options you chose when installing and which boot-flags you used on startup. Every time you try something new write it down and also include the result. Once you make it completely into the OSX gui you should backup your install or at least your Extensions folder /System/Library/Extensions At this point each of your problems can be addressed one by one without a complete reinstall.

Thank you, i have gotten my system to work with many trial and errors and several distributions. the one that i have gotten to work is the Ideneb v1.6 10.5.8 with the voodoo kernel and i was able to use the inject 0.2.1 512MB for my video card, everything works great, except i will be swapping out the audio kext appleazailia audio which works but i have no microphone and only one sound output source works, the ALC888 from Ideneb V1.4 works fine with my systems audio. The last remaining problem with my system is that i can not burn any discs, no matter what program that i use, it just wont burn them, something about an error with the device and that burning is unsupported in Disk utilities? and sometimes some programs will not install or run, so far it has been JAVA and Xcode, most others have installed perfectly!
