Hi,
Last night I installed the 10.6.2 combo update from system updater after reading that it would completely fix my intel x3100 video card problems. Well after I rebooted I got a kernel panic. I tried to boot in safe mode, problem still persists. So I was wondering if there was any way to revert to 10.6.1? I really don't want to reinstall (plus the snow leopard disk won't boot into installer). Just to let you know I was on 10.6.0. And if you have any info on how to get the x3100 (snow leopard sees it as a gma 950) video card working let me know I have tried a ton of things.

Thanks hope you can help! :D

your post is misleading. you processor didn't die, only your install did. or did i get that wrong

there is a ton of forum posts on installing 10.6.2

did you have sleepenabler.kext? that has to be updated for one

I had a similar problem with an upgrade, and as I recall, the solution was to manually switch back to an earlier kernel. If you've got your original kernel handy, you could try that; or you could try one or more third-party kernels until you find one that works. You can specify the kernel as part of the boot loader options (I don't recall the exact syntax), or you can use an emergency boot (say, of your installer) and copy the new kernel over the old one. (I recommend backing up the original first, of course.) The default kernel name is mach_kernel, and it's usually located in the root directory of the main OS X filesystem.

What I meant is that it killed by ability to boot into snow leopard. I just get a kernel panic when I try to boot in any mode. Sorry :(

Ok I tried changing the kernel using a external case and my imac g3 but it still would not boot!!!!! I've heard that Chameleon causes the 10.2.0 kernel not to boot. I am using chameleon v2 rc:3
