How do you safely update iTunes/QuickTime/Frontrow Relased to day on a AMD? Anyone with a guide to easily do this would be much appreciated. I'm assuming you need to do something with encrypted binaries/cpuids, but I just got my Leo on AMD installed yesterday so I'm still pretty new at this.

Also, just wondering, if rev2 will have these updates prepackaged on the install dvd?

Thanks

iTunes and Quicktime packages are always on the DVD. They only have to be replaced with the actual versions. The main problem is to get these versions work on Hackintoshs, especially AMD.

The best way for the updates is a second partition with a working install of leopard..this way you can try the apple updates using the Marvin utility to decrypt & patch binaries. I have done it and it works.

Quicktime, Itunes & frontrow works like a charm....

I donīt have this problem on my system, I have done the new updates of Apple (itunes 7.6, quicktime 7.4) and my system is working very well, only I have noticed that I have problems with the subtitles in quicktime. You can try to use onyx , cleaning all the audio caches...

Hmm... I just updated quicktime and itunes (and FrontRow) and iTunes now crashes whenever it tries to show album art (whether browsing or playing).

Did you do anything special to get it all working? Marvin's utility or anything else?

Now to just figure out how to do it; I've found Marvin's Utility to be... confusing at best.

Yes, How did one use marvins utility? Sorry for the noob question but do I download the updates, then use marvins utility to search for the binaries and cupids then patch them? or do you install the updates then run marvins utility? Thanks in advance. Josh

first, you must do the updates from apple, and then "patch all the binaries" from the second working install.

you need 2 copies of osx.5 just to patch with marvins utility? Could you boot from cd and run it off a USB key? I dont have time/HD space to install 2 copies :)

The instructions are still vague on how to use this utility.

ill tell u what i did.. to begin with had an complete backup of the leopard installation using time machine..

~installed the latest quick time (downloaded from the apple website) ,
~replaced all the files in ~/library/quicktime with the ones from before the installation.
~garageband which was reporting it needs a latest version of QT to start .started all rite!!

solved the issue for me .. not sure if the main files which are updated themselves are being replaced ...
