Hello,
I am running snow leopard 10.6.2 on my toshiba P305-S8820. I have almost everything work. My main problem is the graphics card (intel GMA 965). I can boot OS X and the system is usable but my resolution is low and when I go into Displays under System Preferences my only resolution option is 1024x768. I have tried lots of different kexts. I am booted in 32-bit mode. I have tried kext patchers and driver installers and at the end nothing works. Thanks in advanced. :D

I have the same problem. However, If I connect an external monitor on my laptop, I can see more selection on the resolution. I tried changing the resolution and then disconnect the external monitor but still the same.

I hope someone can give us some details on how to fix this.

Thats an easy one..... Just edit the boot.plist file to the resolution you want and restart, Thats what I did to fix mine when I was running Snow Leopard, It allows you to select a resolution thats not in the "Displays" control panel.

Hope this helps....

I tried it before but still goes back to 1024x768. Anyway, I will give it another try. Anyway, I noticed that when it is on 1024x768, the graphic card is recognized as GPU but when I connect an external monitor, it is recognized as Intel X3100. The problem with that is I can't use the internal LCD.

thanks for your help.

By the way, I've noticed that if I boot with -v -x. The system works okay with all the correct resolution on my internal LCD and the video card is recognized as Intel x3100

thanks,

E

If the resolution is working properly under safe mode, I've found that going back in and enabling quartz with osx86 tools will allow you to boot properly in regular mode.

Though, I've tried to replicate this a number of times- using documented steps that I've made and for some reason it's perfect- and others it is not.

I have no real answer beyond that- but best of luck to you and let me know how things go.

Hope it's okay to post this link; I wrote this little how-to (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=208410&mode=threaded) some months back. It's how I got my X3100 (GMA965) to behave, and have helped many others get proper resolutions listed. It might help you out too :)
