Hello everybody.

If you are like me and have a laptop with a intel 5300 or any another chipset not supported currently, there is a way to use an iPod Touch or iPhone as a wireless adapter via USB!

Download the Mac desktop client from PDANet and the PDANet application on your iPhone/iTouch from cydia.

Install the application and in the settings menu, choose usb.

Install the desktop client which will prompt you to restart your computer.

After the restart, open network within system preferences. A new ethernet connection will be detected. Wait until it detects the valid connection.

You now have wifi internet on your hackintosh through your iPhone/iTouch's wifi.

Hope this helps some people!

I have this, and it works under windows, but I don't think it works on Snow Leopard 64-bit.

What do you have?

I am running Snow 64 bit

It is working really well for me as an alternative to my non-working 5300

Did you need help getting it to work?

So, say my WiFi on my laptop ain't working, but my iPod touch is. I can use my iPod, to connect to my wireless router, and tether it to my laptop?

Yes. follow the instruction above and the program helps guide you through your iPod Touch. Within the application PDANet on your iPod, click settings and check USB mode. The new ethernet port detected by your Hackintosh is the PDANet controller that makes the USB port that you plug your iPod into register as the new ethernet port. The PDANet system icon is then located on the top right hand of the screen. Click and then select "Connect". With your iPod in USB mode in PDANet app and connected to your wireless router, you will have access to the internet. I am using it as I type.

Wow, I never knew about this! Maybe now I can finally get some wifi on Snow Leopard. Worked flawlessly on my 10.5.8 hackintosh.

No problem guys. I was pretty excited when I found this too :D

@SportsGuy

I recommend uninstalling the apps on both your computer and ipod/iphone and trying again by following the directions. if you still need help post again.

IMPORTANT: I was just informed that the PDANet app on your iPod/iPhone is a TRIAL. I cannot post how to workaround this but a google search will provide you with the solution ;)

I've been using the iPhone's tethering feature for a while now, no problems. Saved me the other day when I had a power cut and my ethernet was unavailable. I was in the middle of a huge forum post, lol.

One more update everyone. It seems that the PDANet Desktop client requires iTunes 8.2.1 to work. Anything else has proven to not work for me.
