View Full Version : Missing kext?

I'm pretty much the epitome of "noob" when it comes to the hackintosh scene. I tried loading iATKOS v7 on my MSI Wind U120 netbook, and with the addition of some guy's driver package, most of everything worked great.

Oh wait, but I had to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse. My poor little nettie's keyboard and trackpad didn't work after the installation. After browsing through countless pages of suggestions and other random crap on InsanelyMac, I still haven't found a solution.

I do think I'm missing some kexts though. I was browsing through the extensions folder and I don't have any of the PS2 kexts that everyone seems to think I should have. I found some modified PS2 controller and slapped it in there, but the best I can figure is I'm supposed to have a keyboard and mouse kext to compliment that controller.

So really, I'm at the WTF phase of the process right now, with me giving up as the next step. So someone, please save me. Please help me take part in the OS X community, without me taking out a loan for a real Mac.

I had these problems with my Dell lappy that I was installing on.
I must have tried an install at least 10 times and never could get the keyboard and trackpad to work despite the addition of some kext files.

Then I found: http://osx86.sojugarden.com/

His installer works perfectlly. I follwed the instructions to the letter and I have a working install now with working keyboard, trackpad and graphics acceleration working.
I also did an update from 10.6 to 10.6.3 (as I have a retail copy of SL) and it all works perfectlly including my wireless.

The good thing about this installer is it does show you how to do it properly and it is using a retail CD, not some distibution, so the install is pretty clean and more legal.

Personally I used my broken installation to setup my USB key using his installer and then reinstalled.

So, don't get a loan, just get the installer and £25 for a Snow Leopard CD.
