Hi Everyone!

After taking out 1 GeForce Go 7800 videocard from my notebook and instantly getting full QE/CI i'm working on my audio...

My notebook has a (nForce 4 chipset) nVidia AC97 (CK804) audiocontroller (0x005910de) with 6channel output, SPDIF and ofcourse my internal speakers.. After installing AppleAC97Audio.kext nothing happened. Then I added my DevID to AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext and...... I've got a volume slider, the system profiles says that i've got no built-in audio and my audio preferences say that I only have a Line-out... So I've got sound!! However, very silent, and only through Line-output, not my speakers

I have already tried setting my sound 6 channels in the Audio MIDI utility, setting Left to channel3 and right to channel 6, but this also didn't work..

I know it must be possible to get sound out of the speakers.. but.. how?? pls Help

Thanks!

I have a bit other problem with AC97 kc804 onboard chip:
Sound works with a good volume, BUT eventually the output switches from speakers to "line out" and to spdf and back, so every program thet i start (iTunes, quicktime, vlc, idvd etc), that uses audio, i have to phisically move the speakers connection from one "hole" to another. I have already tried all appleac97audio.kexts that u can google - all the same - the output roams...
Shall i change something in the bios or in ioaudiofamilie.kext or audioonboard.kext or virtualaudiodriver.kext or something else?

Plz help!
Thnx.

azazthot as far as I know WinLinMac01, aljonama and some other users have/had the same problem.

alphabeta23 posted his soution. He bought a SPEED-LINK UltraPortable Audio Card (http://www.amazon.de/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=SPEED-LINK%20UltraPortable%20Audio%20Card%20externe%20So undkarte%20USB&tag=leamfo-21&index=electronics&linkCode=ur2&camp=1638&creative=6742) for about 10€, which works out of the box.

Audio in works for me, but you can't use it, the right channel is always too loud. An external soundcard is neccessary for recording.
I can recommend the M-Audio Transit (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main.html) USB Audio interface. It has a sampling rate up to 96 kHz (near-DVD), Line in/out, SPDIF in/out and an optical AC3-output. It also comes with a special MacOS driver and preferences pane (http://naquaada.na.funpic.de/naq/osx86/forum/infinitemac/naquaada/pix/transit_pane.jpg). The input gain is adjustable up to +18 dB, the microphone boost up to +26 dB, so this will be enough for everything. Price is about 70-80 Euro, but it's a real professional device, better than cheap soundcards. My external soundcard is this one (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProFireLightbridge-main.html) ;-)

quote
Try using the Audio/Midi configuration. Set audio to 4 or 6 ch, then back to 2. This also happens sometimes wehn I exit Logic or mainstage. Sometimes the volume and mute keys on my keyboard have no effect then, this is very bad. i have to reboot then, a logout has no use.

Thank U!!!!
In my case it was set to 6 (!), i changed it to 2 and now have fully working sound. I' ve just overlooket this util before.
I dont need professional sound ( not yet anyway) - and for Skype regular dual channel stereo is enough.

Sorry that i have not found this your comment before.
