Hi,

I am a noob. However, I was able to install OSX Snow Leopard on an i7 build with and Gigabyte x58 motherboard.

So far, everything is working except one thing: my graphics card. I have an ATI HD4650 on the mobo right now, and I have tried everything I have found, and it still does not work.

So!, I have decided to just buy another graphics card. My question is, which one will help my graphics look great, and is the easiest to install and have my hackintosh recognize? If there is a graphics card out there that seems to give people the least amount of trouble, then that is the one I want. I prefer DVI over VGA if possible.

Which one do you think would work best, and easiest in my machine?

Also, if you think you can help me get my current graphics card installed and working, I will pay you $50.00 USD via PayPal. It's not a joke, I am just past my capability to get it done. Like I said, I have tried everything:

I have done this so far to help get my card installed:

- downloaded and installed EFI Studio
- downloaded and installed QE_CI
- downloaded and installed OSX Tools
- downloaded and installed Multi Beast
- downloaded and installed Kext Utility

- I have edited my boot.plist in S/ L/ E
- I have edited Kext in S/ L/ E
- I have downloaded kext that were supposed to help get my card working, and which have helped others do the same successfully (but not me :-(

So, it would be easier if I just bought a graphics card that is reasonably sure to work in my set up, or Pay someone (Like you) to help me get my current card installed correctly.

If you have a moment to reply to this post with a graphics card you think will work, please do so. If you think you can get my current (ATI HD4650) card installed,

I saw that.

I assume the Radeon HD4650 (1gb) is the same as the ATI HD4650 (1gb) and I did all the kext edits and Graphics Enable strings in the boot.plist in S/ L / E

It even shows my card in the System Profiler, but it no worky.

I typed the following when I booted to Darwin:
Graphics Mode=1600x1050x60hz - but it says "can't find graphics" or something very close to that.

I have also previewed all the cards in that hardware list too, but I was just wondering if there is a card that work right out of the box with full resolution and nothing else to do?

no, unless u want to pay 500% more then the card is worth for an apple branded one. gotta go through troubleshooting, which is what osx86 is all about

good luck. and don't buy a new card, a way is out there

have u tried to flash your card with a rom?
im sure that would fix your problem, and you have not mentioned that you have tried to flash it before. you can just download a known working rom for your card then flash it and re-install the drivers one by one and see how that goes.

BTW - here is what my com.apple.boot.plist looks like:

This is what it shows in my "About this Mac" for my Graphics Card:

ATI Radeon HD 4600:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 4600
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
Slot: Slot-1
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x9498
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-B1480A-236
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.236
Displays:
Display:
Resolution: 1024 x 768
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off

Display Connector:

The Graphics Card is a 4650, and this shows "4600". I'm not sure how much that matters?

Thanks for your continued help!
