Hey Guys, Thought this would be the best place to ask for help.

I recently installed iPC 1.5.6 Final PPF5 on a HP pavilion dv1000 laptop dual booting with XP with no problems over than the wireless card having next to none working kext able to connect with a WPA2 wireless connection..

Anyways I wanted to get a hackintosh going that had much greater performance. SO, I decided to pretty much follow what I did on the laptop to my HP Pavilion p6030a desktop. Partion the hard-drive with 2 sections, format the mac section correctly, place disc in and install. I made it to place disc in...

By the title you should by now realise that I'm stuck on a "Still waiting for Root Device" error message, though I don't really understand why. I've gone through every boot style start to it from just plain "-v" to 'Specifying the root disk' with "rd=disk3s1" (my computer says my only hard-drive is the '3rd' hard-drive, other numbers cause a standard kernal panic)
I have read up on that I should try putting in an IED hard-drive, and SATA disc drive, but I'm just confused why I need to if I worked on my Laptop. then agian, I'm a noob when it comes to working out what parts are in my system.
All in all, I just want a way to by able to use the partioned part of the disk, rather than putting in an old IED hard-drive. I could also assume its something to do with the Chipset, but I really have no idea when it comes to that.
If anyone could help, It could do wonders, and I apologise for my incompetence in advance, as while software is a breeze for me, hardware is not

My computer's stats are I'm pretty much putting everything here:

- Model: NC854AA-ABG p6030a(HP-Pavilion)
- Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2500MHz (L1 cache: 32.0 Kb, L2 cache: 2.00 Mb, L3 cache: 0 Kb) Ext.clock: 200 MHz
- Bios: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG (11-Feb-2009)
- Motherboard: BIOS MCP73-6A61NFK1C-00 (SIP) sernum: ULSL91101031
- RAM: 2048mb
- Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3450 (256.0 Mb): 1440 x 900 - True Color (32 bit)
- Sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio

Agian I thank the community, you guys do-do a great gob (Y)

Just to add, I have tried 3 different types of Distro's
- iPC 1.5.6 Final PPF5
- Snow Leopard Universal
- iDeneb v1.4 (I was actually looking forward to this one working as its the only distro with my graphics card driver)
All have given me pretty much the same error. Only iDeneb's final error was about not finding any Firewire gear, while the others were on iPhone drivers or something.
Also I know that a lot of the recommendations made to fix this problem involve using ide hard-drives, but my hard-drive is Sata, so I dunno how much of a difference that will make
Again help would be wonderful
Cheers
