Rev 2 didn't fix my mouse/keyboard issue, and adding in the logitech drivers didn't help either.

I'm certian that this mouse/keyboard issue isn't so much a mouse/keyboard issue but a USB support issue directly related to my motherboard. Others are having the same issues on the AMD nvidia reference-like motherboard models(Foxconn amd 590, evga amd 590, bfg tech amd 590). My only hope is to cross my fingers that another build might work for me.

WinLinMac01:However, I heard rumors that graphics is supported in Leo4All, but haven't yet tried it myself, since I don't have onboard graphics. =)

What onboard graphics, Nvidia onboard graphics or are you talking about of Intel X3100 and gma950? Please, tell me where is that post you are talking about, thanks.

i didn´t got USB with my Keyboard and Mouse working ;(
Nothing (replacing *.kext files in the iso) or change from USB 2.0 to 1.1 or disable ACPI support worked for me ;(

I'm having the very same issue with my USB mouse/keyboard. I'm pretty sure it's a USB I/O issue and not something directly related to the mouse or keyboard. I've tried a number of different things to try and solve this problem but nothing I do appears to help.

I'm in the process of trying different 10.5.2 builds, and I'll let you guys know what the outcome is.

Yeah, i've researched this issue as much as I knew how to. I have several posts on the insanelymac forums, and directly contacted other people with this same issue and no one has an answer. I seriously think the root issue has to do with my motherboards I/O ID's.

When I boot the leopard install disk(generally with -v, but have used -v -x -s -f in many different combinations), the boot information looks healthy, it probes the USB devices and finds them, but about a second later it calls for a I/O reset, and that seems to turn off my USB devices(I've used PS/2 devices, and the same thing happens). I've tried a million different things, and especially the obvious things. I really don't think there's anyway to get around this issue without compiling a new USBIOFamily.kext that matches this motherboards I/O ID's.

Hey guys, I downloaded Zephyroth's Leopard 10.5.2 EFI Rev.2 but I can't install it. When I try to boot like many others I get the dreaded "Still Waiting For Boot Device"" message. I've been looking through forums all day but can't find a solution. I removed my SATA DVD Burner, and set my IDE DVD Rom as master and still nothing. When I type in -f -v I get EBIOS errors.I burned the ISO at 4x using Nero 8, so I don't think the DVD has any errors. Any Suggestions?
Here Are my specs:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+
2 Gigs DDR2 800 Corsair Ram
WD SATA Caviar SE 250 Gig
XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX
IDE Sony DVD Rom (Master)

AMD Athlon64 3200+
MSI NEO Platinum M/B
3x512Mb DDR Kingston RAM

A lot of people seem to have problems with nforce3 boards!
You could check that your device ids are included in the kext file

I have removed the AppleNforceATA.kext and then burned the image again, but now then the apple logo appear it starts to load something and then it appears a stop sign over the apple and stops every process.

I have tried to search on insanelymac for an alternative kext, but the search module is not working. I am googling it but I don't have any luck until now.

Hello,

I have the following set up:

MoBo: Asus M2N-E / NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Audio: ADI 1988 8-channel High Definition Audio (ADI 1988B not working)
LAN 1: NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP built-in Gigabit MAC with external Marvell PHY (not working)
LAN 2: Linksys lne100TX (working!! using tulip.kext)
Video: Nvidia GeForce 7300GT 256MB PCI-e
RAM: 4X1GB OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 DDR2-800
HD: SATA 500GB (Ubuntu Gutsy, Zephyroth 10.5.2 EFI)
DVD: LG GSA-H55N DVD+RW 20X8X16 DVD-RW 20X6X16 INT IDE

Firstly: I'm trying to get my audio to work, I have attempted to run the AzaliaAudio.pkg (from your wiki http://osx86.wikidot.com/utilities-resources) but I get a message telling me to "run the audio preflight script", I am confused, what do I do?

Secondly: I keep getting an error regarding ext2fs.kext, to the extent that it can't be found or is not set up correctly, the permissions look good and I have run "diskutil repairpermissions /" a few times.

Sorry for the vagueness, I'm at work, I can post more details later, I'm just currently obsessed with getting this to work.

Zephyroth, thanks for all your hard work! This is awesome and lots of fun!

For audio use this (http://www.mediafire.com/?zjjgtdl1dqw)

and for the permissions open a terminal and type

sudo -s
(type your password)

cd /system/library/extensions
chmod -R 755 * && chown -R root:wheel *
cd ..
rm extensions.mkext
kextcache -a i386 -e

reboot

Thanks!

I just noticed that my ext2fs.kext is located in "/Library/Extensions/ext2fs.kext" and not "/System/Library/Extensions/ext2fs.kext" for some reason...

Hi all,

Last night I tried to install this (Leopard 10.5.2 Rev2) for the first time and encountered a few errors. Basically, it hangs every time I try to boot from the DVD, with one of several errors.

The first time I tried, I booted normally. Shortly after the "Apple Screen" was displayed, a "No" symbol was displayed across it and everything came to a halt.

I then booted with the -v option. It booted to a point and then stopped, saying "Still waiting for root device."

I rebooted again, still using the -v option. This time several errors were displayed (some problem with sandbox and several with mDNSResponder, among others), but the boot process seemed to be continuing until it loaded the NTFS drivers, and then it just stopped. No panic, no error, no nothing, it just stopped.

Here's my specs:

M/board: AMD M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD X2 4400+
Video: Gigabyte 256MB 7300GT
HDD: Sata II
DVD: IDE

In case it has something to do with my partition table (I say this since sometimes it hangs on loading the NTFS driver), it's something like the following:

/dev/sda1: 'Empty'
/dev/sda2: W95 Ext (LBA)
/dev/sda3: Linux swap
/dev/sda4: Linux
/dev/sda5: NTFS

/dev/sda1 was previously NTFS, with Vista installed, but I marked this as empty and was planning to install OS X here. To be honest, I don't know where the hell /dev/sda2 came from because I never created it... seems to be the partition-table's version of a symlink; has the same start & block count as /dev/sda5 which is a 200Gb partition I used to share data between my Windows and Linux systems.

If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it :-)

Thanks!

Okay, I have an update.

I just tried to boot the installation again, this time with -v cpus=1. I tried this twice and both times it halted with "Still waiting for root device."

After this, I tried just booting with "-v" again. This time it actually seemed to boot... I got a fancy GUI with a language selection dialog. Only problem is, neither my mouse nor my keyboard seemed to be working. The mouse wouldn't move at all, and trying to TAB to the button didn't seem to work (and hitting Num Lock seemed to do nothing).

Both my mouse and keyboard are PS2--will this be causing any issues? I thought I read somewhere that you shouldn't have any problems as long as the mouse & kb were both USB, or both PS2....?

Thanks again :-)

roisoft,

I tried running the Azalia_ADI1988.pkg, however, my audio is still not working...

I have to boot Leopard using the "-x" option, if I don't use "safe boot" the computer hangs via the spinning beach ball at a black screen. The black screen looks like the screen just before the the desktop loads, so close!

Anyway, my point is because I'm safe booting I have to manually load my tulip.kext using kextload, so maybe my audio is not being loaded due to safe boot.

However, I tried "sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext" but that didn't work either.

I think I give up at this point, I'm going to wait to see what the future holds.

Thanks very much for the help though!

mus1:Already mentioned it in the other Thread:
Finder -> Go -> "Connect to Server..." doesn't work at all, no matter what I type, it always says that the URL would be invalid.
I also cannot connect to smb-shares. When I click on a share it says "Connection failed".
Everything else works fine so far. The NTFS-driver is working fine as well.

I have the same problem!

Plus, it's weird that without any additional fix in the installation I cannot see my hard drives during install and then I see them all after booting the installed leopard! I got a X38 board with a ICH9R controller in raid mode with 2-2drive raids and 2 single disks.

something about aliases, fixed most easily by eddie11c (i forgot the thread)

Hi to all,
I have a small issue I’m having with (RT2500USBWirelessDriver). After I install Leopard and reboot my network work with out any problem until my next reboot or start my Leopard my network it does not see my USB card until I disconnect the cable and connect it again to make it work.

And way to make it connect all the time?

I think there is a real fix for this somewhere but until you find it just add -f to your com.apple.Boot.plist

I am a new one at the Hakintosh arena wink.gif , and i want to ask some questions...
i have installed successfully the Zephyroth's release (10.5.2 Rev2) on my PC:
AMDX2 3800+
3gb RAM
Nforce 570 Ultra (Asus M2N-e motherboard)
Onboard Lan
Sound: Onboard (ADI1888 High Def Audio (onboard))

The installation went smoothly (after connecting usb mouse/keyboard - PS2 does not work??) and the system loaded successfully afterwards; the only pitfalls: Lan Card, Sound and Video Card....
I have fixed the LAN problem (using forcedeth_nockd.kext).

I have not succeeded fixing the audio. I have tried the azaliaaudio.pkg, some adi 1888 packages, but with no success. Can anybody suggest a solution that worked at the Nforce 570 Ultra platform?

Regarding the graphics, my video card has 512MB but Leopard only recognises 256..
I am using NVinject 0.2.0 and all resolutions are shown (1280x1024). Another issue is the No Quartz Effects at the "About this Mac" section...

Besides the above, the operating system crashes very often; the screen is greyed out and i am forced to reboot my pc... I have noticed that this happens whenever i try to download the Mac updates or when i am downloading something.. I would be glad if somebody could tell me how can i see the kernel messages so as to identify the problem. I am suspecting the LAN driver, but i am not still sure about this.

I would be glad to hear your comments and to have the community's valuable information...

Thank you!

Ianxxx

I don't think many people are left using the nforce lans because of this problem and to my knowledge there is still no real solution.
As for sound it might be easier to get a supported usb device.
Lastly graphics I would start by checking that your device id is in the appropriate kext files.
nvinject
geforce.kext
Nvdanv50hal.kext for 8 series
nvdanv40hal.kext for 7 series
nvdaresman.kext

In all you need to look for a line like this in the .plist file

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x029210de</string>

and insert your device id 0x"your id here"10de

dimiosmule

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

sorry the other kexts have
<key>IOPCIMatch</key>
<string>0x029210de</string>
rather than primary match you need to change them all.

If you have windows then you can find device ids in device manager, if not use a linux live cd open a terminal type lspci

then change the device id to the above format, also on the wiki for this site there is a lot of device ids listed.

I've been trying for the past couple weeks to install Zephyroth 10.5.2 Rev 2 for AMD. I had it installed once and it was running quite well until I stupidly installed the iPhone SDK, which trashed my install. I've never been able to get it installed again and don't understand why I can't duplicate what was successful before. I can get everything installed on my external USB HD and can boot (MBR) from that drive. I can get into single-user mode, but cannot bring up the system from that point on. Once I type "exit" to exit single user mode, this is what I'm getting?

Jettisoning kernel linker.

roisoft:Try with the tiger version of the nforce or appleviaata.

Hi roisft I managed to install Leopard with the kext from Tiger that you post. Actually I am writting from the Leo now.

1. I have a few more questions now. I have in the same disk but in another partition Vista installed, i choose dual boot from the installation menu of Leo but it doesn't give me any option on the start up.

2. I can only boot to Leopard only if I have the installation dvd in the drive. If I remove it it gives me a message that there is no operation installed.

Any ideas???

PS. it can be installed from a DVD+RW as well.

Regarding your second question: This happens due to the lack of a bootloader, which is easily solved by manually installing it.

One information is needed to do this, though - Did you format your drive as MBR (Master Boot Record) or GUID?

You can check this by launching the Disk Utility, and selecting your drive.

Once you told me, I will tell you how to fix your bootloader. :-)

Thanks

In order to open Disk Utility, do I have to get to the installer again?

Is there anywhere within Leopard?

WinLinMac01:What are you system specifications?

My specs are:

Motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM, Socket AM2, AMD 690G Chipset, RS 690 Chipset
AMD Ahtlon 64, 3500+ CPU
2GB Ram
IDE (Slave) Sony DVD-RW DRU-180A
IDE (Master) Western Digital WD2500 HD 250GB
One 250GB partition, MBR-formatted
Radeon X1250 Graphics (Onboard)
Realtek RTL8111B Gigabit Ethernet (Onboard)

I know all this CAN work, because I had Leopard running on this machine fine before trashing it with the iPhone SDK (which I now know needs to be installed without the CHUD support).

Thanks.

Welll, Let me explain that I have one 200Gb Sata drive where I have 2 partitions. In the first I had installed Vista Ultimate and on the second I installed Leopard. I didn't used disk utility in order to make the partitions, but I made them within Vista device manager.
I have checked the Disk Utility and it mentions that it is MBR, but I just formated the drive within Disk Utility and didn't change anything else.

I have run the instruction for the bcdedit script and I get the option on the start up, but I get chain error when I try to boot to Leopard.

Any ideas????

I have the same motherboard (Asus M2N-E)...

I (finally) got my audio to work using the Azalia Audio drivers off the Zephyroth Leopard AMD 10.5.2 Rev.2 DVD. I made sure to ONLY check the Azalia Audio option --during my like 4th install--under audio drivers and my audio actually works now.

There is a AzaliaAudio.pkg package here http://osx86.wikidot.com/utilities-resources that I assume is the same one from the DVD, it might work for you.

I still can't get my video to fully work, they only way I can do a "normal" boot (without using the -x boot flag) is to delete GeForce.kext.

Regarding the graphics, my video card has 512MB but Leopard only recognises 256..

You might want to try this: http://nvinject.free.fr/512Mb.html

Good luck, you'll need it :)

This post may be in wrong place, as i changed from Zephyroth release to Leo4all, but i think that it may help others facing same problems.
The reason that i changed release was the many many system crashes i have had, but i have to admit that probably my LAN drivers caused the problem. Now, with the Leo4all and with a LAN card with Realtek 8139a, everything seems ok; i believe though that if i reinstalled the Zephyroth's release with that LAN card the result would be the same (no crashes).
The audio problem i mentioned on previous post is now solved (AppleAzalia with 2ch support seem to solve the problem)

Regarding the Graphics Card, i still have problems; after the clean install of Leopard (10.5.2) the only screen resolution available was 1024x768, indicating no proper hardware support. Then, i used the "Nvidia Installer V1.9 by Punk92" and after a restart the native resolution for my TFT is now supported;

Nvdanv50hal.kext
nvdanv40hal.kext and
nvdaresman.kext

by declaring my devices' string id (0x039210de). After a restart, a blank screen appeared and i was able to login in only with the -x option at boot....
I have reinstalled the "Nvidia Installer V1.9 by Punk92", now i can login with normal boot...
However, i believe that the video acceleration is not working (Quartz Extreme:Not Supported, xvid videos playback is problematic).

Thank you all very much for the support so far!

Before you begin the installation, go into disk utility, and set up your partitions (in HFS+ partition scheme), choose MBR or GUID. Then, select the destination source you want to install Leopard on after quitting disk utility. Customization your installation options (according to your appropriate hardware drivers). Begin the installation, and you should be on the role. That's as concise I can get. Let me know if you need a full guide just in case. =) Whisper me if you need any further support, gladly assist you. ;D

Success install rev.2 using DFI Infinity mobo (nForce4Ultra), SATA drive 1 (mbr), GF 6600GT, AMD 64 SSE3

Problems which I've encountered during post-install:
1. I can't use chain0 method to boot it: I have disk 0 with vista and disk 1 with leo, can't dual boot it using vista loader, forced to choose which hdd to boot. Still not solved.
2. Forgot to select NVInject during install. :) As the result: 1024x768, soft mode :) Solved by installing NVInject and removing all unneeded device ids from NVDA* and GeForce* kexts.
3. SMB support not working because of broken symlink (not started by leading '/'), solved by editing symlink.
4. Broken symlinks to java, all in /usr/bin (!), solved by editing symlinks.

your chipset may not be supported, if nothing else works, try getting a "sata to usb" adapter from somewhere and plugin ur HD as usb. once installed Leo should recoganize ur HD.

You need to search for 'waiting for root device'. Basically the nForce kext isn't mounting your HD because its either not compatible with your configuration or you need to try an older/newer version. You should look here (http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues#toc10) and here (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77071).

i know, but both wikis share mostly the same content (info i entered in zephs was copied to eddies) but
with minor differences. i dont mind sharing info but this is not very efficient having it fragmented
or duplicate.

it would be better having one good wiki (not like the osx86project wiki) with all info in one place and
the release specific (zeph, eddie, R1,R2 ...) issues in corresponding sub chapters.
for this the creatorsof the two wikis (the other one would be puttabong?) have to cooperate
closely, though. ;)

anyway, i think this community is great, both forum and wiki(s)! i just wouldn´t mind it becoming
even better :)

I still get the blinking curser.. I remember last time I had this problem I had to keep reinstalling until I got it right... It never seems to work reinstalling the boot loader manually for me, I don't know why. I go into disk utility, my Leo disk is disk3s2, so I reboot and follow the instructions, finish, reboot and still the blinking curser.

i had the same problem with using guid on 10.5.2 r2.

i solved it finally by installing first without bootloader and adding it later manually:
http://osx86.wikidot.com/how-to-s#toc5
http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2520

i needed several tries, i guess it had to do with choosing the right disk.
where did you get the info about your disk from? you have to be sure about
disk3s2, better doublecheck via disktool@dvd and terminal@dvd/singleuserboot.
it seems to me that the nummeration depends on different factors...

I installed this today and worked great from the get go, only problem I am having is with the Mic, is not working at all. Sound is great, (AC97 driver), but I cant get the Mic to work. Used skype to make a test call and you can only hear noise coming from my comp. So not sure if there is a way to work around this, if anyone knows I will be greatful.

AC97 driver is the only one that works for me btw, I installed the OS on a Compaq nx6125 that has a Conexant AMC Audio device.

smileyme:From day 1, OSX86 had problems with the onboard (Realtek RTL8201CL PHY) LAN, and I didn't want to post until I had solved it. Thanks to naquaada, it's now working.
Spoke too soon. Issues with syslogd. Have gone back to the NIC :(

At first, thanks for providing great DVD.

I had a problem SATA with SB600 in my DVD writer drive. I'm using ASUS DRW-1814BLT.

In Zephyroth's original DVD, for SB600 VIAATA kext would be used. It almost works fine. But when I try write CD/DVD, then I could not.

After that, I tried AppleAHCI then it worked almost fine except writing DVD-RW; but later I found it should be my drive problem because I could write DVD-RW with another Liteon drive.

Anyway, I think that agains SB600 we should use AppleAHCI on behalf of VIAATA.

How do you think about this solution?
