I have an asus m4a88td-v evo mobo and I was wondering what do I need to get this thing working? I have iatkosv7 because it's the only thing I can get to boot. It allows me to install but always gives me some kind of kernel panic error. What's going on? What special kernel do I need or anything to get osx on my system.

Thanks.

Hello,

Your mainboard use an amd cpu.
I never installed Leopard on an amd so i canīt tell you the best kernel for it but what i know the voodoo kernel should work with amd cpus.
I would choose for amd the legacy_kernel for snow leopard.
If i where you i would install snow leopard and if you wanīt to use a distro i would choose hazards snow leopard for an amd but the best thing would be if you install it from a retail version.
Here is a link for nawcoms mod cd that you will need if you wanīt to install a retail version. http://blog.nawcom.com/?p=569

If you have any questions just post them here and i will try to help you. ;)

A list of your hardware would be good to help you.
It would be also interessting which kernel flags you used?
We need more information so that anyone can help you. ;)

AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE Deneb @4GHz X4 140W
4GB (2 x 2GB Dual Channel) DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 1.65V
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
320GB WD Caviar Blue + 1TB Hitachi

I have gotten pretty far. I've tried a few different installations and I keep running into the same problem It doesn't know what to clock my cpu at.... it can't verify the busratio. I have to manually put it in to boot but then it still freaks out after the installation. I think I have to edit the com.apple.boot.plist file and add the busratio info so it knows what to do. Am I right?

Thanks.

Hello,

What for bootloader do you use?
I would try to start with flags -v -x arch=i386 cpus=1 busratio=xx (xx=your busratio)
(often the flag cpus=1 helps; if it is you can fix it by edting the dsdt)

If you know what for bootflags are needed you can insert them into boot.plist.

What for kexts have you checked at the installation?
Which version of leopard have you installed and which voodoo kernel do you use exactly?
What for a graphics card do you have?

But i would setup snow leopard because you can run 64 bit with it.

I've tried a lot of different combinations. I've tried kernel 9.5 9.7 and 3 different bootloaders chamelion v1 v2 and another one that starts with an X lol

Since I'm not having any luck with that and I also want snow leopard, I'm going to go the empire efi with retail cd. I just bought the retail of snow leopard installation disk. I also downloaded empire efi. Gonna try that first. The thing i don't know is what do I need to do to the empire efi boot iso before I burn it so it knows what kexts and everything to load up to make osx work on my amd system with all my hardware?

Thanks so much.

I never installed it with a retail cd but that also should be no problem because the concept is the same. ;)
Use the nawcom mod cd and start with it and follow instructions.
After booting you have to run the Disk Utility and create a GUID partition.

Here is a instruction to install it: http://prasys.info/2010/10/nawcoms-bootcd-the-sucessor-to-empireefi/

Write if there is any problem and i will try to help you.

For 10.6.4 you have to use legacy_kernel 10.4 and so on....

And best thing is if you donīt select kexts if you where sure that they will work.
I would just select a bootloader for example Cameleon 2 RC5 and the kernel.
We will install other kexts for your other hardware after getting into the OS.
It is improbable that your hardware works just by installing the OS.

What for a Graphics Card do you use because we have to think about it how to get it working?!

Wow thank you so much for your help. BTW it would be really great if I could instant message you to get this problem solved asap. Whatever instant messenger you use just give me your sn (pm it to me if you want) and I will add you and we will go from there. I really really appreciate your help.

Before you suggested nawcom I tried empire efi legacy and I got a black screen after i tried the retail cd.
I did try the nawcom cd like you said but I get stuck after it says nullcpupowermanagement : : start if I remember correctly and another time it said trying to change a collection in the registry a couple times and then just stopped. So IDK what's going on but if we could im that would be so helpful.

Try to start with bootflag -v arch=i386 cpus=1 busratio=xx. (please be sure that the busratio is correct)
If that doesnīt work i would add fsb=200000000 too.

Tell if that works!

What for bios settings do you have?
The most important thing is to set the SATA Ports to AHCI.
You can enable HPET, disable the floppy drive and all ports you donīt need. (Example: Serial, etc....)
Please set no special settings.

If that all doesnīt work i would try to set the cpu clock to normal settings.

Okay I got it working but it won't recognize the HDD lol

I actually have two Hard drives connected and it's not seeing either of those in the disk utility. I have a sata connected hd and an ide connected hd. I'm guessing there is some kext or something missing that allows the retail cd to see my drives!

Well I got Pirate EFI to work or whatever you linked me to and it still doesn't see any hard drives. I guess this retail cd doesn't like my western digital drives... I'm going to try my hitatchi external hd and see if it likes that. I don't want to install on that though because it's slow.

It looks like a bios setting.
I would try different settings because i canīt imagine that the problem is the harddrive. ;)
What was the setting you enabled yesterday? I would begin with that.

Finally got it working by setting sata mode to ide. Installs fine and everything now I'm just trying to get the graphics card to work correctly. It first started with that crappy resolution then I downloaded a kext and it fixed the resolution but now the screen goes blank every 3 seconds and stays that way for 3 seconds. it's so annoying idk what to do.

I still can't get the resolution right.

UPDATE: I was able to get 1600x1200 but not the full HD...
