CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb @3.6GHz
GPU: MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
HDD: 60GB WD Caviar Black
PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W
MOB: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
MON: 23" 1080p Dell LCD 5ms

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 installed but can only boot if I boot from my Nawcom DVD that I used to install SL using Retail Disk. I tried all combinations of boot commands possible including:

-v -f -x -force64 busratio=17 cpus=1 maxmem=4096 arch=i386

and no matter what I do I always get something along the lines of:

WARNING: ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin - getCPUIDInfo unknown CPU family: family...
-- power management may be incomplete or unsupported...
DSMOS has arrived
** Device in slot: SLOT--1 **
** Device in slot: SLOT--1 **

then most of the time that's all I get and it's just stuck there.

I have the latest BIOS update and I am using Darwin 10.7... the latest 10.6.7 kernel... and I tried to use the anVAL bootloader but I couldn't get it to work. I guess I just don't know how to do it.

Dude using a Darwin Kernel in AMD isnt very clever go for nawcoms Legacy Kernel
and be shure once u get in there with the mod cd u install a Bootloader wich detects the vervet framebuffer(kabyl) This one does (http://cl.ly/0I0i2h3b160l09260C2s) correct for your card and solved your problems are ;)

Well I installed his legacy kernel so idk why it says darwin 10.7 but it does lol I will try that bootloader now.

try with the bootflag

-v legacy_kernel arch=i386 busratio=17

and if u get in there u apply these settings to your com.apple.Boot.plist
:D

I did exactly what you said and it still doesn't boot. Gives same error.

Boot using your CD, then install legacy kernel and Chameleon.

Here is latest Chameleon build:
http://www.kexts.com/view/1251-chameleon-2.0-rc5-r851.html

And here is legacy kernel for 10.6.7:
http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1062

I'm also using VoodooTSCSync for my AMD:
http://osx86.co/f36/amd-dual-core-optimizer-for-snow-leopard-t6820/

and following kernel flags:
arch=i386 -force64 cpus=6 busratio=16

"cpus" and "busratio" values for your CPU are 4 and 17.

I found why it was happening.
GPU must be enabled.
I reinstall Mac OS X 10.6.3 and enable my video card with efi string (nVidia 9800 GT)
Then I update to 10.6.7 and instal legacy kernel.
Now system boot normally.
Sorry i don't speak english very well

So it's GPU related?? Well I have a different GPU i have a 5770. What should I do?

When I go to about this mac it stills says darwin 10.4.0 is being used. Does this just not update? I downloaded 10.7.0 and updated for 10.6.7. The package installs itself yet it still says 10.4.0 in the about this mac window. Is it updated or not? Thanks.

just be sure u assign legacy kernel as default in the com.apple.boot.plist in extra folder and it should use it

We have almost the same exact specs besides the motherboard akimoa. What did you do to install leopard? I think my problem is I'm installing 10.6 retail and updating straight to 10.6.7 via software update.

Use this Tutorial (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=227592) and u should be fine also combine it with common sence

Tried that and it installed, but when I went to boot with the boot cd it won't work no matter what boot flag I use. I'm going to try and boot with nawcom after work and see if I can get it booted. If not, I will install with nawcom, then follow the tutorial once I get to the desktop.

Thanks!

Here is what I did:
followed tutorial in link above. When I rebooted after install I used nawcom boot cd instead of the one they gave. Followed tutorial from then on. Did not update yet. Had to instal realtek kext to get internet working. Updating system now.

Updating did not work. Even after legacy kernel. Gave me same error I was having before. I am going to keep it as 10.6.5 because it works perfectly fine WITH full gpu support. I wish I could software update to 10.6.7 but it is just not working for me. If someone knows of a solution please let me know. Thank you.
