Hi people,

I would really like to experience the mac os x.
I tried different kind of installations but no luck so far.
a couple of them installed successfully, but I wasn't able to boot into them.
The last one I tried is the Zephyroth's 10.5.2 rev 2 (also tried rev1)

I have 2 seagate sata drives with 2 partitions on each of them. On the first drive I have win xp installed. I tried to install the os x on the second drive, one partition is mac os journald and the other is NTFS. Also tried it on a external usb drive.

I have acronis os selector installed and sometimes it recognizes the other "unknown" os but when I try to load it I get a blinking cursor. Other times acronis doesn't recognize it at all.
When I deactivate the acronis os selector it just boots into xp

I tried to make the the mac partition bootable with fdisk -e etc.... but nothing happens.

Can someone tell me how I could boot into mac os x
I would be grateful

To avoid any further complexities simply use EasyBCD. I use that software regardless of chain0. =)

sure, the best guide would be found over at http://neosmart.net/gallery/v/neosmart/EasyBCD/1_70/ Click on each screenshot for a step-by-step instruction. And there are also some video guides @ http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=dual+boot+mac+and+windows+xp&hl=en&sitesearch=

(search through All videos, not those hosted by google)

Check out any video that comes in interest to you. The only ones that seems valid to me are the ones that have parts.

hope this helps. =)

isn't easyBCD for vista?

I just installed tubgirl osx 10.4.10 for amd and it worked just fine with acronis os selector.

however I would like to try leopard...
so what's the difference? why can I boot into the tubgirl tiger release and not into Zephyroth Leopard release?

oops, I was responding to kisho's situation actually. easybcd is only for vista. if you are not in the same boat, i'm sorry. Your method for osx 10.4.10 may work as well. try that then come back and post your results. =)

I tried a couple of times but no luck

With the tiger version I just install the thing, boot into windows xp fist and then reboot again, the tiger installation appears in acronis os selector and I can boot in it.

With the leopard I get a blinking cursor when I try to boot in it, or sometimes acronis doesn't even recognize the installation. As I said I installed it a couple of times, the last time I only selected the dual boot loader of the packages and nothing else, but it just doesn't work.

any ideas?

thanks for the guide

I guess the reason you format the whole disk, and install windows again, is to have it as guide?

I really don't want to install my windows xp again, I have a lot programs and stuff there and it will take some time to install it again + I'm not sure if leopard will work, so all the work could be for nothing.

would it be possible to get this running without reinstalling windows
because I do have 3 disks:
disk 1: windows installation
disk 2: Partition 1: Mac OS journaled Partition 2: NTFS (I could use this whole disk if needed)
USB Drive: Mac OS journaled ( I had installed tiger on this one with no problems)

I also could remove my first disk and try to install leopard only, to see if it works on my computer.
But will there be problems when I connect my first drive again? Will I be able to boot in win xp again?
