Hi all,

this is my configuration :
ASROCK AM2NF3 VSTA
Athlon 64X2 4200+

My problem is :
I can"t boot the new AMD EFI 10.5.2 Zephyroth on my system ..; because it always freezes on the blank OSX page (which ask you to reboot) and with the -x command it freezes on the blank page (but without asking you to reboot)..
i've also tried this :

1 - Boot with the DVD.
2 - Press F8, then type "-s"
3- type "cd /usr/standalone/i386"
4 - type "dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1 (X is the disk number and Y is the partition number on which you installed Leo)
5 - type "dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1
6 - type "./startupfiletool -v /dev/diskXsY ./boot_v8"

But it doesn't even boot with typing -s ...

What's the problem with my configuration ?
Do i have to change something on my system ?

thanks a lot !!!

i have the same board with an Geforce 7300GT AGP card
i had to remove the NVidia Kexts by hand to succesfully boot into OSX

try the follow

boot at darwin boot prompt with command -s
and then do

/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/Ge*
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/NVD*
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.kext
exit

after that ur macos should boot...

now i have the problem at the "Do You Already Own A Mac" loop :P
but i will fix that!

maybe there is an workaround for the NVidia Geforce 7300GT or older cards on AGP port
does any1 have any infos about that?

Thanks Everybody for responses !
And Thank You Fire (i think you have AM2NF3 Motherboard too XD)

But I have a problem and this is the reason of the topic :

i can"t boot with -s or -x or any combinaisons ..... even with this you gave me fire : "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32" ....

i have the same problem with this ... (see http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo020jg8.jpg
and http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo021sw7.jpg )

I think that OSX HATES this motherboard (AM2NF3) don't you ??

thanks !

yeah it looks like the kernel cannot load the nvidia.kext and the AppleNForceATA but its hard to see that clear in you picture (shine)

i have the following sys configuration made on my asrock AM2NF3-VSTA

Latest bios update (V2.50)
Disabled SATA in bios (because i dont have any drives)
Disabled all (LPT,COM,MIDI/GAMEPORT etc because i dont need them)

I have an good old 20GB IBM-DTLA IDE-ATA Harddrive connected and it boots OSX fine!

if i choose to install the NVidia.kext and the NVinsert (any size) my OSX crashes before the login screen (screen of death)
normally you can boot with the -s command ziska!? if this isnt possible try to boot with the -s command from the CD!

i hope this may help you a little bit!

thanks a lot Fire !!

this is my configuration :
bios v 2.40
sata enabled because of my only One HDD SATA 150GB
Disabled all (LPT,COM,MIDI/GAMEPORT as you)

With the 10.5.2 It Always Crashes or gives me Kernel Panics or Nothing .... .... (still wait for something but nothing happens)

So i think i will first of all install the 10.5.1 and then on my way i will install the 10.5.2 rev2

Or Should I Have to upgrade my bios firmware or it's useless ??

Thank you very much !

PS: i can"t even boot with my CD ... with any -s -x or any combinaisons ...XD

no problem you're welcome :)

hmm thats really strange...
it sounds like there must be a sata problem or something...
bcs of you are not able to boot via -s or everything else
is it possible to borrow an old IDE hardisk to check that out?
if i had and SATA hardisk i would check it out by myself... but i have none

of course you can try to update your bios but i think it wont fix that kind of problem you have... cause of Asrock only made CPU specific updates in the new bios revision!

sorry but i cant help you for now, maybe other users have an specific workaround for this?

but u see it runs with my configuration the only difference between mine and yours is the SATA drive RAM CPU and maybe your videocard
not so far away from a working OSX :P

I'm having a problem with my sata drive with a different motherboard (GA-MA69VM-S2). The OS X installation halts before the setup. I know its an issue with the sata drive because the drive simply powers off during the dvd boot, followed by OSX giving the stop sign during loading into the installation. Ordered an IDE hard drive to replace the sata drive I have, also ordered a new motherboard earliar on ebay, your one coincidently (ASROCK AM2NF3 VSTA), irritatingly before I read this post listing all these issues. I ordered it mainly because it has two IDE connectors, instead of one which my current one does, and because it was cheap. I'd say this is your best option, just sell your sata and get an IDE, it's not a particularly major drop in performance.
