What's wrong with my system? I installed 10.7.3 on fx-6100 but i cannot do the following :

- update to 10.7.4 would cause the system on continuous reboot
- using RAWX legacy kernel would make the system so sluggish
- applying amd_insn_patcher cause kernel panic before updating dyld shared cache and everytime after system loads.

Is there any kext in conflict with the update?

salvation,

deleted everything that is susceptible to not spend Update:

sleepenabler
VoodooHDA
HDAE RTL 8xxx
etc. ............
and any other kext that you have added.
prefer mkext in E / E + HDD root DSDT if necessary, I went in 11.5 without any problem, think AppleFileSystemDriver.kext replace the kernel and repair permissions with Disk Utility.

I'm only using a distro release by niresh. I dont know what are the other kext to be removed that might had caused my issues.

If anyone would be nice enough for me to take a look at this list of kext on my system and figure out which one is creating the conflict i would really be gratefull. I already spend more than 2 months with this hackintosh but still can't make it work perfectly and almost feel like giving my fx-6100 up. :'(

http://imageshack.us/a/img155/6948/originalkext.jpg

Also, i tried to install the distro you sent to me by iNDO but I can't make it boot. I'm stuck with "Not an intel platform. Restart fix not applied!!!" :(

Jhusly, i notice you have VoodooHDA, which is mentioned by Gilles.

But i would back up this Niresh installation and resort to something radically different: retail installation using either using MyHack or unibeast/multibeast. Of course, you would have to change the kernel in either one to RAW's, so it manages to boot.

Since you own a Bulldozer, you should be able to install Lion with ease. Niresh's is a distro from which a lot of issues are reported. Distros, in general, are very unreliable material. Maybe you solve all issues with a good retail installation.

Already tried removing several kext from there one by one which I think are irrelevant including voodooHDA as suggested by gils long before but I still end up the same.

I wanted to try to do a clean install using the retail version of LION but i cant find anything from the web not hosted in torrent sites. Torrents are terribly slow in my place. If theres only a non-torrent link I can find then I would just download it from the office where i enjoy 100mbps connection but also block torrent downloads.

if this questions is about the HD drives found in the right side of my screencaps. All you have to do is, on finder, click preferences and then you can see options from there. Ticks all the display options for HDD and CD.

I've tried to install SL using iAtkos S3 V2. It installs but of course I get an instant reboot. I tried to install using OSX INDO 10.7.4. Towards the end of the installation I receive a Failed Install error. I AM able however to boot it up using these flags busratio=18 cpu=1 UsekernelCache=No npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes -f -v -x I can get into safe mode..but thats about all i can do..I can't install any kernels..kexts..etc. I will say I'm closer than I was a few months ago with this system.

Not quite sure I understand you..but I will try.

Basically what you are saying is just install SL with my GTX 570?
I can take the other card out...
If so I shall give that a try!

I updated to 10.7.5 and now the screen stops updating after [ PCI Configuration begin ]. I found that it continues and if I boot to single user mode I can type 'halt' and the system halts. Any thoughts on where to start looking. Using a AMD FX-8120 on a ASUS M5A97 EVO with a Galaxy GTX 465.

Ok..I've tried yet again to install OS X 10.7.4 INDO.

Success!! However..I am stuck at the same roadblock. I can boot into the system using

busratio=18 cpu=1 npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1 -v

any other combination of flags I can boot with too.. like UsekernelCache=No

anyway...when I'm actually in the system I can't for the life of me install ANYTHING! No kexts...packages..nothing! I have a hard drive to swap files between windows and OS X and half the time I can't even copy them over to my OS X drive.

I'm a lot closer to complete system than I was months ago but now I'm just plain stuck...any suggestions??? I'm ALMOST there!!!

Godofwar, If you're still using Bronzovka's kernel, you should definitely replace it with R:A:W:X86's kernel from the first post on this page.

Also, you can put all those kernel flags in the <Kernel Flags> section of /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist.

I'm on 10.7.2, I do not want to update because I fear that my hackintosh won't work at all and I'm sick of reinstalling Snow Leopard and setting Lion up all over again. I've done that hundreds of time already. Does R:A:W:X86's work with 10.7.2 or no?

Also, I accidently posted on this topic. :D

Oh yeah, can I replace that kernel while I'm on Hackintosh Lion Or do I have to replace it while I'm on my Windows 7 side? And if I have to do it on my Windows 7 side, what program to you recommend I use so I can read/write to my Mac side?

The Connactic

You can simply rename the RAWX86's kernel to, say, RAW, before putting it at the root of your Lion system. Doing that, you won't need to replace the older one (that's named mach_kernel) and will be able to use it if the things go wrong and RAWX86's kernel doesn't work with your current 10.7.2 installation.

If you do as i advised, just remember to boot using the name you gave to the kernel as a boot flag. If you call it RAW, just type RAW and, just for safety, npci=0x3000 and hit enter. If you want to boot with your older kernel, just doesn't type anything.

if i rename rawx custom kernel to like jhusly, in chameleon boot should i type "-jhusly" or just "jhusly". I have a 10.7.3 installation and tried updating to either 10.7.4 /10.7.5 this time I've gotten a little further than the previous which just restart after the chameleon load some kext. But either way I'm still stuck with "Still waiting for root device." I use RAWX custom kernel on both update and the mach_kernel which works on the 10.7.3. Anyway, I use MacDrive in windows to replace the kernel.

okay thanks! but how about the "Still waiting for root device", any idea? Tried booting with "npci=0x3000", single user, safemode, legacy but still im stuck on that part.

EDIT : nvm, i'm already able to boot after 10.7.4 update with RAWX custom kernel. Weird because im using bulldozer but instead of 64bit support only, mine is 32bit userland only. I'll try the fix and hope it will be fixed this time! :D

Is there any reason I should update from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 or no reason and should I just be happy to run 10.7.3 as is? Is 10.7.4 too complicating? I just updated to 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 successfully today. I replaced the finder and machkernel than it worked. But than I had to install official Nvidia drivers which actually worked better than the Nvidia kexts I was using on 10.7.2.

There's not much to gain from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 except that it now support the latest xcode and maybe some later apps and those stated by apple in the update but if 32/64bit works perfectly fine and all your application then it doesn't really matter much specially if your previous update is real bloody.

What you did from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 should be almost the same if not exactly. ;)

10.7.3 seems to run better in flash with official Nvidia drivers. I was using 10.7.2 nvidia kexts to get my gtx 570 to work on 10.7.2 and I had flash freezes at the beginning of most youtube videos. Flash acted weird on 10.7.2 with Nvidia kexts. I believe the official Nvidia drivers worked a lot better. So thumbs up to Apple for not being douches and putting stuff in their official drivers to make it not work right with hackintosh. Tho, some people claim they've had crashes on the official drivers and freezes I have no experienced either one but I've read comments online saying that 570 gtx an 580 gtx works perfectly with official Nvidia drivers. So maybe its certain graphics cards?

That might be the case. Mine, i have xfx hd5770 which is mac osx friendly with the earlier versions unfortunately Lion make it useless if not flashed. So this time i would be getting another card for my hackintosh enough for some editing, i believe xcode dont need much of it.

Anyway to get all 4 or 5 of my speakers to work with Hackintosh Lion 10.7.3 with my Creative X-fi Soundcard? Or am I stuck with 2.1 sound from only 2 speakers? I'm using Voodoo hda the lastest version I believe. Oh yeah, I'm currently using Leopard as my Wallpaper even tho I'm on Lion. I just thought Lion had the ugliest Wallpaper I've ever seen. I think Leopard and Snow Leopard had better looking Wallpaper that gives Hackintosh a better feel for me personally.

My soundcard supports 7.1, 5.1, and 2.1 sound. I have the drivers installed and setup for 5.1 on my Windows 7 side and sound comes through all 5 speakers. I never heard of any sound card only supporting one of the surrounds, most sound cards I know support all 3 which this one does atleast on my Windows 7 side. I also didn't set up the card myself, I don't setup any parts in my computer.

I haven't, doesn't really bother me because I probably wouldn't use them anyways. There's music players you can find online to replace ITUNEs if you wanted music player. I personally use Enqueue. I'm not a big music listener on the computer tho, I usually play my mp3s on my Creative Zen(an mp3 player you probably never heard of). I only use music when I jog/exercise. My brother uses his computer as a music player tho, using Windows Itunes all the time. Enqueue is a good Itunes replacement it looks almost exactly like Itunes.

iTunes sound a lot better for me so far since i havent got any other player installed other than vlc and the other video player plus I'm able to use the itunes controller so i could play/skip a song right into my taskbar. Also, Im just using my music collection in my ntfs/windows drive and completely sync it without copying into my mac drive. But my main concern is to be able to use the store.

I´ve got a perfectly running appstore/itunes with 10.7.4 . Bought many apps and so on. How were you able to do it? Mind sharing some tips? I tried what i had seen on the net like booting with PCIRootUID=0 or deleting all your network settings and add the ethernet first on the list but that just dont seem to work with me. My connection is mainly by using a 3g/4g stick connected via usb and or wifi and not via lan cable.

If you have Snow Leopard working properly, there's no need to update unless you're like me and had to update because you have a graphics card not supported on Snow Leopard. Or maybe you want some of the software that only Lion supports? I don't know... Lion and Snow Leopard look almost exactly the same to me, only difference I notice is that it has Launchpad and other pointless new features.

I just got a weird Kernel Panic possibly from using Google Chrome or maybe running too many applications at once?

A message popped up on my screen cursing at me saying Kernel Panic there's no ----ing support for AMD. I doubt that was from Apple unless Apple is upset that people are hackintoshing and cursing at them? Or is that from Hackers who created Hackintosh? Either way it was quite childish message no matter who wrote that Panic. Why do people always have to use the f-bomb now a days?

It could have been Utorrent related aswell, I had a torrent file open and I didn't download anything on it because I was looking at the files I wanted to download.

I still have to find a way to get my Hackintosh to self-boot tho. I'm using the key commands -legacy UsekernelCache=No PCIRootUID=0 now and its booting that way. But I really don't think I should have to keep typing a boot command to load an operating system.

Edit: I can already tell that it was Google Chrome causing that dumb Kernel Panic. This blows, I guess I have to get used to Apple's browser since it works the best with their mac operating system. I say I'm about 80 percent sure it was Google Chrome causing the Kernel Panic. I'll be back in a week or so to let you know if it was. Right now I have a lot of of different Safari tabs and 5 different windows open and so far no Kernel Panic.

If your npci value is incorrect, then at boot time it'll hang at [PCI Configuration Begin]. Some motherboards don't need it at all, as far as I know. If you want -f to be permanent, then yes, that's the right place to put it; however, I thought you might want to try typing -f at boot time just to see if it makes a difference.

I can't fit the -f at boot time. It stops typing when I type all this in -legacy UseKernelCache=No PCIRootUID=0 npci=0x3000. If I cut out the PCIRootUID=0 or npci=0x3000 I might be able too but that would cause a problem would it not?

I think -f is working, but I notice I still get Kernel Panics every so often in 10.7.4 Amd Hackintosh Lion. I thought this was linked to Google Chrome but I must be wrong. Could it be that these browsers are 64 bit browsers and that is what is causing the crash? I got a Kernel Panic when I started up with -f but it was boot the os... So I don't know, maybe -f is causing Panics? I don't think it was, I think it's just confidence, if anything it is because my browsers might be 64 bit on Lion but I need 32 bit Browsers?

Can I do Method 1 - Easy on an Amd Hackintosh or must it be Intel Hackintosh? If so then it's basically the same as Method 2 right?

euh!?? yes and no, the method with iATKOS L2 implies a valid SL 10.6 and remplacemment kernel after installation.
But installing Lion 10.7 retail FX processor involves a PC or Intel.

But my message did not mention it, it would be nice if you décrives your equipment in your signature for more visibilty for members of the forum so that we can help you more easily.

I download the retail dmg file of 10.7.3, it was about 3.7gigs in size. Please tell me I got the right version/size! Also, can I do the method 2 or no? Do I have to do a much more complicating method. I find that method 2 is very easy to do.

I want to use Retail 10.7.3 with Method 2 instead of IATKOS 2 with Method 2. Will that work or you're not sure? gils speaks a different language be he/her is saying that I need to use retail dmg and not ITAKOS 2 dmg. But I don't know if this method will work for me since I do Method 2 because Method 2 seems the easiest for me since I know how to do Method 2 installation of Lion.

Not yep, I can confirm Retail 10.7.3 dmg does not work with Method 2. Method 2 will only work with IATKOS L2 and I replace the kernel, machkernel, and I install Chameleon on it. But problem will always be that it takes several times for me to shut my pc off and turn it back on to get it to boot properly. I am thinking I have wrong key command because I think I am installing it the proper way. I think Amd Phenom II x4 965 3.4ghz is suppose to be done with Method 2...

I read through as many posts as I could and tried a wide variety of different things to fix this problem but, I can't seem to get a large portion of apps to work (not sure if 64bit apps don't work or if 32bit apps don't' work). Cinebench says I'm on 64bit, Finder works. System information says I'm on 32bit. Kext Utility says I'm using i386.

This is my build...

CPU: AMD FX-8120
Mobo : Asus Sabertooth 990fx
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GT 240
RAM : 8gb of DDR3

My boot flags are :

<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>legacy_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>-v -f cpus=8 busratio=18 npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1 UseKernelCache=No EthernetBuiltIn=Yes GraphicsEnabler=Yes</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>3</string>
</dict>
</plist>

I have to use cpus=8 otherwise it only uses the number of cores thats I say (cpus=1 only uses 1 core | 1 thread; cpus=2 uses 2 core | 2 thread)

Internet works. Everything that works is stable. I tried to use the AMD insn patcher, which didn't work. So I tried to see if they would work if I used maxmem=4096. Which is what I'm currently booted with right now, and they still don't work. Here is a paste of the crash.

http://pastebin.com/TxHFzHHT

I'd appreciate any help I can get. I'm really confused as to what I need to do. When I watch the systems logs I see there are a lot of things crashing in the background so I don't understand how it seems like things are stable. Here is a small snipped of the crashes seen in the console.

I went back to 10.7.3 like a week ago, I'm pretty sure Amd is not too stable under 10.7.4 unless I'm doing something wrong. Also, my Mac side freezes if I leave it on for 10-15 hours period of time without doing anything like moving my mouse or typing. I have no idea why... I'm hoping my Hackintosh side isn't killing my Cpu and Video Card. I know those die over time, but I don't need that sped up by years.

Possible ! , le mieux que tu es à faire est de revenir à SL 10.6 , les k10 fonctionnent vraiment très mal sous Lion 10.7 et tu n'as pas la gestion 64 bit . :)

I just have it named legacy_kernel because I haven't removed mach_kernel. I can go ahead and fix that if you think that might be causing the problem though.

Yeah I was definitely doing it wrong lol. Thanks! New problem though. I've been able for fix a few things but I can't fix the 3 main ones in the guides (quicktime, dyld, and lib system). It seems to detect bad instructions but it won't patch them. Here is a paste of the responses.

Activation mode 32/64 bit

A suivre ........

Awesome! Thanks so much, I can actually start chrome and use it. Yet another problem came up though (lol). It seems as though there is an encoding error of some sort. The console says IOError PNG, and it also says it converts 7 bit data to binary. The result is the new tab button is mostly invisible and a lot of the font on chrome itself (not on webpages) is pretty much illegible. I've tried to patch fonts and various different packages in chrome that I found in Activity monitor but I've had no success thus far.

It also may be worth noting that the same thing happens if I boot into -legacy, all font is messed up though, not just in chrome.

Once again, thank you so much for all your help.

No it's all 32-bit apps that this happens with. They work, but text rendering seems to be broken or something. When i boot with the -legacy flag, everything broken text. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like.

You can't see it in that picture but the text in the top left of the menu bar where it would say "Chrome File Edit etc.." is also messed up like that. Happen to have any ideas? :/ I've gone and patched virtually everything I could think of and all dependencies of chrome, including attempts to patch parts of chrome itself and have had no success.

EDIT: Also, I just remembered that images will render weird as well. Here is a screenshot of a random image that has rendered wrong.

Perhaps an update to java?

Alright so this isn't normal, and it's mostly likely not an issue related to 64-bit stuff. I'll go through and update OpenCL, Java, QuickTime, and whatever other rendering dependancies I can find and I'll post back here when I figure out whatever was causing the problem. :)

Alright, I ended up having to just reinstall Lion and I only patched 2 files this time and everything works great. Font rendering is normal and graphics rendering is as well. Both 32-bit and 64-bit apps are functioning perfect and benchmarks look great! Thanks again for everything.

How do I make Hackintosh Lion 10.7.3 self boot on an Amd Phenom II x4 965 3.4ghz, GTX 570, 4 gigs of ddr3 ram? What goes in the files. Right now I'm typing -legacy UsekernelCache=NO PCIRootUID=0 npci=0x3000, and I don't even think that is the right command since sometimes Hackintosh Lion 10.7.3 will boot with those commands but sometimes it won't.

Man this new command I'm using is bad, it takes 2 times for me to shut down my computer before when the old command got my Mac side working by shutting it down once before it finally booted up operating system. I would prefer a command that I wouldn't have shut my pc down improperly but I doubt a command exists for me. :(

Thanks for your help.

Got it to work, but now it doesn't do Chameleon bootloader but a Black Bootloader thing which I can live with since it works better than seeing the Blue/Grey Chameleon loader. It now selfboots automatically because I have the correct commands in extra folder.

It boots everytime on the first try but the problem is now that I'm falling more in love with Windows 7 because Mac's Operating systems lack software that I use on Windows. I can't get Handbrake to work right on Mac's operating system like when I want to preview quality. Mac is also missing software like Nero for burning movies to dvds which I do.

I don't know, I'm starting to ask myself what the big deal is about everyone loving Macs other than the fact that their operating system looks cool but lacks software. I mean it's nice that you don't have to worry about viruses, spyware as much but other then that it's nothing really all that special. Sorry if I offended anyone.
