i have installed eddie11c's release and after the installation it reboots and loads to the account creation. I select my language and my keyboard but when i get to the transfer data from another mac or not, i click no and continue and it just loops and goes to the begin of the setup. I went eddie11c's website http://leo4all.wikidot.com/know-issues#toc5 and i found the issue. But I'm not sure if I'm typing it correctly because i get an error every time. This is what i typed:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
/sbin/mount -uw /
passwd root ##
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
my questions is do i type after the root, do i type ##.
Please can someone please answer my problem.
Thanks

after the root it should prompt you for a new password(leave off the ##), then once you log in the user name will be root and the new password you set.

I tried the Eddies way and worked, but I have the filling I missed some important wizard guided setup... for instance I stuck with 1024x768 resolution...
the sound worked fine, but no wifi RTL8185 PCI... i will try the realtek downloads... we'll see...

Sorry for posting it a little bit late, i've just seen what is the this issue about.
kisho: I had the same problem once before with my wife's Intel dual core laptop. Based on VIA chipset, i made the installation for it to boot and recognize built-in sata hard, etc etc. Later i gave up with that laptop as there is no graphic support for via chrome9 onboard gfx.
I also had infinite loop at 'transfering data from another mac' then back to pick your language and keyboard. To bypass this use very low graphics mode at boot promt, like : "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32" . It will completely bypass those fields, account creation. Once you're in Leopard you can fix it all from there, install network, graphics, etc.
