Waiting for root device without IDE HDD plugged in

I'm trying to install Zephyroth rev. 2, however for the installer to work with Rev. 1 I had to have an IDE drive plugged in. My DVD reader/writer is IDE, while my two HDD's are SATA.

Am I correct when I think the problem could be corrected by replacing the IDE DVD with a SATA one?

doesn't hurt to try but i don't think that would be the problem
what is the specs of your computer
