Only 1024x768 resolution 7300GT

Hi everyone,

I've just got 10.5.2r2 up and running, after many hours of frustration, however I can only use a resolution of 1024x768 on my 7300GT. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

During the installation, I selected NVinject, thinking this would support my card, but it seems like it doesn't, since I'm stuck in a standard low-res VESA compliant mode.

I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know how to get the video card up and running properly :-)

No, I haven't tried that. I'm still really, really new with this (in case you couldn't tell). I got the impression all I had to do was install using the 'NVInject' option under 'Graphics,' but clearly I was mistaken :-)

I'll download that and give it a shot :-)

I've tried using Zephyroth's Nvidia Universal Installer, it works but after I can only boot using the -x (Safe Boot) flag or I get a black screen with two cursors.

Booting with -x also disables my LAN and Audio, I can load the LAN kext using kextload but I can't get the Audio back up.

So in short booting in Safe Boot mode sucks for me :)

I won't be able to help you, mrnegitoro; I'm far too new at this stage.

What I will say is that maybe someone else will be able to if you provide more details about your setup.

What distribution are you running (e.g. Zephyroth's 10.5.2 rev2) What kernel? Is your 7300GT the 256mb one?

My 256mb 7300GT works with Zephyroth's Universal Installer on Zephyroth's 10.5.2 rev2 release, using the 9.0.0 kernel. After installation I am able to select up to 1360 x 768, which is the only resolution I have tested. I'm assuming the lower resolutions work fine also, but I have not tested them so I cannot confirm.
