I will start off with my computer specs. Its a upgraded acer Travelmate 2450 notebook.

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2450
RAM: 1.5gb DDR2
Chipset/video card: ATI Xpress 200m
Hard Drive: Hitachi 60GB 5400rpm Ultra-ATA/100
DVD Drive: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K16RS ATA Device
External DVD Drive: LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter

I have tried many DVD versions of Leopard from Leo4all to Kallyway 10.5.2. When i try to install it off the DVD drive I get a "still waiting for root divice" When I try to install it off an external DVD drive it boots into the install screen but no hard drive is recognized. I really need OSX for application purposes but I dont have enough money to buy a mac right now. If there is anyone who can help me solve my problem I would be greatly apreciated. Thanks for the Help!!!!

P.S. Someone mentioned that I might be lacking a proper kext for my sata chipset.

I dont know all it says is Acer Travelmate 2450 and alot of numbers, probably the serial. It think its IDE though.
The Serial is LXTCL0514862903D561601
I am also currently running windows vista, dont know if that makes a difference or if the hard drive needs to be blank. (hd also doesnt show up in the disk utility software in the leopard disk, so i cant format it)

Hi EnchantedPlague, what release are you using..kalyway, zephyroth (which one).. i have a feeling that zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 1 would be best for you.

No i would suggest using Kalyway 10.5.2 it's new. Zephs wont work with intel. Leo2allv2 will i think.

Hi EnchantedPlague, Sorry i didn't know you are intel Zephyroth wont work for you.. do you know what chipset you have, ie i have sb600 690g which is a pain.. I would suggest finding out what chipset you have, then you can find a kext for it and inject it into one of your dvd's, it should work then. i think your chipset maybe sb400. if so there is some info over at insanelymac about editing a custom sb600 kext to add your dev id's. heres a link to the sb600 kexts http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=16213 and here's a link to the forum http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=66399&st=0&p=481771&#entry481771 .. its a shot in the dark but hope it helps..

This is what CPU Z says:

Chipset: ATI RS400/RC400/RC410
Southbridge: ATI SB400

If you could help me locate a kext that would be awesome. Thanks!!!

OMG I love you Firewalk!! I looked on the web and found a kext for a variety of ATI Chipsets including the sb400. I used Transmac to put it into the iso and i booted. And gess what...it got passed the waiting for root divice and it shows the hard drive. I have yet to install it since i have alot of work but will try later. Again thank u very much!!!
