10.6 on Dell Inspiron 531 help
Hi
Can anyone help me install Snow Leopard onto my Dell Inspiron 531 Desktop (AMD Athlon X2 64). I have tried several install discs, but always get the "still waiting for root device" error before the installer loads. After browsing around I notice that this seems to be a problem with my SATA HDD (I have tried all BIOS configs possible). I have come across a guide "Modbin's Snow AMD Kernel - EFI USB Install" which is http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/09/install-snow-leopard-106-on-amd-pc-hackintosh/. Can anyone tell me if it is possible for me to do this on a USB external hard drive and boot my dell like this. If not, can anyone provide a better way to do this as this seems to be a tough machine to get OS X installed on! Although I see some people are running snow leopard on a dell inspiron 531 so it must be possible. All help would be greatly appreciated. James |

Edit : I tried this and it doesnt work, the chameleon linked on that site doesn't install so I had to try an earlier chameleon and now when booting my PC all i get is the darwin x86 boot screen and then it loops back to the Dell splash screen. I officialy give up, I don't believe its possible to install os x on a dell inspiron 531.....someone please prove me wrong!

sure: http://www.maciverse.com/install-os-...ash-drive.html follow this but after its restored use my kext pack copy kernel to root of usb installer. and copy all extra into root of usb/Extra then install chamloen from a package http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=201850, then reboot booting the usb flash drive boot with -v and install and when its done using the bootloder off the usb installer and select the installed partition and boot with verbose and posts any errors you encounter.
